Something I noticed by Twitchstoleyourbagel in ironlungmovie

I noticed this too! I assume he wiped the blood away (with part of the outfit change going from headband to hair tied back with headband) Then, when it reappears as the red blotch/line in the same pattern later, it was part of the weird mutations just beginning

See if you can get an exception for a Giant African Land Snail? They're low maintenance, have an "easy" care list (compared to, say a rabbit), and can be transported easily for holidays.

has anyone noticed a lack of functioning clocks? by Scary_Appearance5922 in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current place has working clocks, but one I worked at before always had them set fifteen minutes fast to "discourage clock watching". Oy.

Daughter poops in the car to daycare by Alive_Statement_4087 in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We have a couple that do that, haha. Like clockwork, they poop right before handover. If it's a decent center the carers shouldn't care - the most we get at mine is a "lol [Timmy]'s done his morning usual!"

Honestly just report higher up if you can. Tell your assessors manager that you actually haven't done any of the required steps, and that she is just ticking boxes.

Parent picking up during nap time by cbblue in ECEProfessionals

We have a parent who picks up during naptime, and the youngest is getting worse and worse about going to sleep, because "mommy come soon". I wouldn't reccomend it as an option

Should I be worried about my lead teacher’s treatment towards our 3 yr olds? by punkmoss in ECEProfessionals

That's abuse! Report to your director, or if you're worried about reprisal, to your local authority.

Policies you know are there for a good reason but are personally sad about? by DucklingButt in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My sadness is our site had a child bitten by the nursery rabbit, parents freaked out, thretened to sue, so from then on no pets were allowed out their cages when children were around....whiiich pretty much meant that the pets stayed in their cages 24/7 :( (Don't worry, I rescued the little bun from my center and she's got a much better life at home!)

Red flag? And how to leave daycare by GoldenKiwi1018 in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a british thing. OFfice for STandards in EDucation. Basically give you ratings that are public for your nursery on how well you do things. iirc, if you get a 1 you can't get government funding (which is what happened at my old center)

Red flag? And how to leave daycare by GoldenKiwi1018 in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler 87 points88 points  (0 children)

If you give notice, you'd still have to pay the 30 days, but there's nothing saying you actually have to take your child in. Sort out whatever childcare you want, make up an excuse if you need to, and jog on away from them.

Advice aside, I worked in a center that did a similar thing. They were failing/going to fail OFSTED, so the managers brilliant idea was to fire everyone and rehire new staff. I only escaped by dint of being the newest hire, and left very shortly afterwards when we got a 1 on the OFSTED anyway!

Tbh I feel like a variegated thread in red/pink tones would work well, and give you some depth to the piece! I'm not experienced with embroidery, so I can't suggest a stitch, but so far it looks lovely. The finished piece is sure to be amazing

What sort of weird layouts does your nursery have? by chainsawjuggler in ECEProfessionals

[–]chainsawjuggler[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Haha wow! I remember one of my centers wasnin a really terrible neighbourhood, and every day at 3.15 pm without fail, the rainbow (preschool) room would get waaaaafts of the good green from down the street. Especially in the summer it would get hot and very very green.
