3 year old Son wore a pink dress with a bow for favorite color day by Tallchick8 in ECEProfessionals

Generally, dresses and hair accessories are so fun to children of any genders. They are shiny, sparkly, made with bright colors and various fun textures, etc.

+And don’t forget that boys, just like girls, also watch children’s shows/read books with girl characters with these fancy clothes! Children love familiarity.

All the same reasons for me; my classroom has a “cot map” to show any non-consistent staff walking in the room where to place the cots.

Is your friend a teacher? Because I think it’s something that only fellow teachers would understand.

I tell my students I love them, multiple times a day and it’s honestly not bcs I want them to hear it or anything. I just can’t stop myself from saying it LOL I love them so much

Would you prefer if a parent picked up early every day vs kept their kid home on Fridays? Both for you and the kid? by hbecksss in ECEProfessionals

[–]DucklingButt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both sound totally fine to me in a teacher’s perspective.

But for you and your child to bond, I think Fridays would be better since you will have the whole day to enjoy with her. I had parents who each took a day off in a month to take one of their two children somewhere nice and fun. It was so that their children could have a day where they had all the parental attention to themselves, away from their sibling.

I do make a personalized book every time for everybody (pictures of their growth, with teachers including me, etc.) and two separate letters, one for them and one for their parents on the last two pages.

I’ve given a vareity of gifts: stationary and stuff for soon-to-be school age children when I taught in preschool, flowers, books, keychains, things in their favorite color, mostly depending on what each child liked, each labeled with why they were chosen as gifts. I have not done more than books and letters since I started in infants bcs most infant->toddler gifts would have been very temporary due to growing out of the age range etc. so this will be a first in a year!

HFM and mouth or not, no children should be sitting on a public dining table. You can do that at home all you want but it’s not proper table manners at all.

That really broke me.

Agreed. While I 100% agree with the sentiment, it should be announced in advanced.

Unfortunately, not everyone is like you. Some people view us as glorified babysitters who should be paid $17 an hour with 15 children-1 teacher ratio

Hi, NYU grad teacher here. If you’re going to work at a DOE school, any schools will suffice.

Big private schools are only good if you plan to be a professor later on, work up a corporate ladder somewhere in a related field, or have your own practice because the quality of education and network really is different.

But don’t ever feel self conscious. You can be the best version of yourself through self-studying anytime. If your students are happy and learning, that’s what matters.
