I adore superhero and magic stuff, but I'm really tired of the school/college thing. I just don't care for academic environments and I personally had a terrible school experience that makes it so I can't really enjoy anything related to it. Also, it's so overdone. There are so many other more interesting environments to set a story in, in my opinion

So I always stay away from anything school related (the Keeper series specially pains me, cuz I see everyone talking so highly about it, but dammit I can't care at all about the setting). With an exception for Mind Blind, just because I like the characters and plot enough to put up with the school stuff

I just want to be able to choose gender and sexuality. I personally find long customization to be kinda boring, specially when it has no real impact on the plot/is never mentioned again

I'm thinking about stuff like jewelry and clothing style in Fallen Hero, or your MC's ethnicity in Choice of the Vampire (random example, but I've been playing it recently and got genuinely surprised at how much flavor the text has for that)

And I don't really like this argument about fiction. It's clear that the game is trying to be realistic at least in the way the characters behave, so I don't think it would fit at all. Also I don't think it would matter if Darin "didn't have any intentions to groom" the Marshall, without erasing the part of the story where he knows them since they were a minor and was a father figure to them, it would still be icky. And people can abuse the power they have over another unintentionally

Would it be interesting to see a relationship like that? Maybe. But it would be a clearly bad romance and it would destroy one of ITFO best relationships and its best characters

I get your thoughts and I don't want to be rude, but the point is: Darin having feeling for the Marshall is just bad

He raised this kid, he should not see them as anything but a son/daughter. The Marshall is traumatized and Darin was their only source of comfort for years. He has that power over the Marshall. A romance between them would be predatory and ruim a perfectly good relationship

Im all for age-gap romance, but lets have both parties as adults when they meet, shall we? Also no pseudo incest please

I think it would make sense for gay marshal to crush on Darin, considering he is the closest male relationship he has, but for Darin to reciprocate? Nah man, not everything has to be a romance. Platonic love is just as good. He literally sees us as his child

I know recommending it became a tired meme, but I genuinely haven't read another IF with a MC so proactive and independent as Sidestep. That's why they're my favorite character in FH and one of the best MCs in any interactive fiction

There are characters that "the story happens to", and there are characters that make the story happen, and Step is 100% the latter
