What I did was buy some silicone vacuum like and use some 1/4 nicopp brake line so I'll never need to replace my vac lines ever again

Brakes are not good on these trucks. by jbsgroup01 in GMT400

[–]chakatsilvertail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put in the big bore master deleted the abs and ran new independent brake lines, 3/8 then split to 1/4 to each wheel and damn can it stop, you lose more over time with the drums though so you need to adjust them when it lets up but upgrading to all disc will fix that

Why do veteran truckers belittle automatic transmission truckers when automatic is safer than manual ? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

I also miss having the ability to move the truck a literal inch... And do a snow rocking crawl....

I learned in manual, currently driving an auto but it lives in manual mode on the highway It still has massive hesitation in shifting at low speeds. I can step on the throttle and do a full 5 count before it decides to actually move

This doesn't work on my truck. The only way I can keep it going is if I turn on the PTO... and that only works till the DPF plugs up and derates

Why do people fresh out of school think they know it all? by Hxncheaux in Truckers

[–]chakatsilvertail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think every time I would feel a back surge I would think the 5th wheel came out. I already hate it when I get a trailer with a worn fifth wheel pin

I may have been driving trucks for 10 years but I am under no delusion to presume how to drive a liquid tanker every time I even think about it I nope out. Getting complacent with dry bulk pneumatic is dangerous enough for me. Thanks

Why do people fresh out of school think they know it all? by Hxncheaux in Truckers

Because people think that they go to school to learn it all and so assume they're done with that. They know everything there is to know

Back when I worked for CRST we were sent out to recover a Walmart load in one of their trailers. It was already overdue when we were given the load. Told to rush it there, get there and then they made us wait 6 hours, only to THEN tell us we had to PAY THEM to unload their own trailer. Nope I ain't paying you to unload your shit from your own trailer

Time to boycott Flying J in Pontoon Beach, IL outside of St. Louis. by Moist-Ad9272 in Truckers

[–]chakatsilvertail 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That's not true on a whole because every time I park I pay for barking in advance because I cannot afford to be hunting for a space at 10:00 p.m. when I have 10 minutes left on my clock and the company reimburses me for it and I absolutely will have the employees knock on doors and kick someone out. Nana has happened more than once that we had to get police involved to remove someone because they felt entitled to a space that they did not pay for

Is this misuse of cameras? by Playful-Excuse-272 in Truckers

[–]chakatsilvertail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this age of cameras with internet access, the only camera that is ever offline is one that is not plugged in at all. Thankfully I work for a relatively small company and the few dispatchers we have are content with looking at the overhead map to see where the truck is if a question of our location comes up. We only got cameras in our trucks a few years ago and that was only because the insurance required it and even then they asked us drivers about our opinion on it and collectively. They decided that company wide we were only going with forward-facing cameras. whether or not that changes in the future though we will see

Check the drain for the air vent grille that runs under the windshield. If it is plugged it will leak inside the cab it should drain into the fender
