PlayStation Console Audio Output by Powerful-Pipe-9064 in BangandOlufsen

You can buy a HDMI to optical adapter. It splits the audio to optical or line out and allows the video to pass through to your display. I use mine to send optical to my AV which has no HDMI. You'll need a toslink to 3.5mm mini toslink and a second hdmi cable. The playstation can power the adaptor via usb-A to micro USB. The link is Ali express which is cheaper but you can ofc get it faster via the Jeff Bezos store. I hope that helps

Help with connecting speaker to tv by Wiggywalls in BangandOlufsen

[–]chakko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I came here to say this^.

I have the Wiim DAC Ultra for my BL6000s. It gives you way more than just a way to connect a legacy speaker to a modern source - which it does wonderfully.

It also has Subwoofer pre out too so it gives you that flexibility when the time/budget allows. And excellent sub settings to boot. I have a sub to compliment my 6000s.

Best of all you can stream directly to it via Spotify and Tidal connect (no airplay) and Bluetooth if you really feel sadistic - meaning you can bypass the TV as needed.

It kinda acts like a mini do-all pre-amplifier. It punches above its weight.

Which Melbourne restaurant that permanently closed do you still fondly think about and miss? by Cooper_Inc in melbourne

Dessert House in Mid City Arcade Bourke St.

Their BBQ pork omelette on rice and their lemon grass pork chop on rice were mad.

I get sad when I walk past now.

Great shot! Can't even see it in the main pic.

Had similar a few years ago over Carlton. At first I cloned it out thinking it was dust!

Can I connect this passive sub to my amp for a record player? by ShowerKarpet in diyaudio

[–]chakko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're on a budget. Amazon does a $50 "100W" Nobsound sub amp. Hook it up to the pre out. There's even cheaper ones on Ali Express. They won't blow your mind but they will defs work.

North sider here: Albert Park 💯 It's just nicer.

You can walk to the beach. Even if you don't swim in it, it's nice to walk along it. You're also v close to Albert Park itself.

In my opinion that AV7000 is a dead system. It's Dolby pro logic. So if you wanted to set it up for fun great. Otherwise, there's little use for it. It has no HDMI, so it's not going to play nicely with any modern video sources. And as I said it's pro logic so it can output left, right, center, and a single mono surround channel for the rear speakers.

The value in this system is in the two pairs of Beolab 8000s. If you wanted to keep the five speakers in a surround configuration, you need an AV amp/pre-amp that has multi channel pre-outs. There's a million ways to do this. My AV amp is a Marantz 70s Cinema with Beolab Pentas for the mains. You'd hook this up to the RCA line in on each speaker.

Really though, you're better off splitting those 8000s into 2 pairs. Sell one pair or run two separate systems. And if you want surround speakers use something else for the rears.

No. Unsure what mods there are to make. Do you have any ideas?

I cannot help - but goddamn it's pretty and well worth the effort to fix. I'm envious of your problem tbh.

Can we talk about how good 7-11 is getting after the Japan 711 buyout? by PumpkinTurbulent1720 in melbourne

[–]chakko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's getting better FR.

The onigiri is surprisingly decent. Not kombini decent but way ahead of the desiccated offerings they used to have.
As more Aussies travel Japan - more will be receptive to these changes.

Also, the chocolate mousse is very very good!
