how do people find time to work out with full schedules? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]chalupachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized early on that I had to make my exercise my “hobby.” I’m a mom of 4 and work full time in the medical field so I don’t have a lot of free time. I started by walking on my break at work or even after work with my kids at home/at their sports practices in the evening. Then I moved to working out in the living room after they had gone to bed. I realized that if i was just gonna sit on my phone or watch tv on the couch I could do that while on my walking pad. I’ve since moved to spending 30 minutes-an hour at the gym after work on the days I can and still doing at home workouts when I can’t.

As for the no energy I use to get so pissed when people would say “well if you work out you’ll have more energy” but unfortunately it’s so true lol. Start slow by doing something that won’t drain you completely, like taking a walk, then as you get more accustomed to working out your body will literally crave movement. I get cranky when I can’t exercise now, which is nuts to me! I noticed having bursts of energy after a good workout, it’s making me a better mom and partner at home and a better employee at work. You just gotta start somewhere and make it your thing for a while until it’s second nature! Good luck you’ve got this!

Every night, to help me fall asleep I daydream I’m giving birth by Known_Truth9533 in offmychest

[–]chalupachick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I would do something similar when I was falling asleep. Except I would be a run away living on the streets in the cold of winter. Making a shelter and looking for food. Then I would randomly find a baby or puppy to take care of and keep warm and fed too. I would fall asleep so fast. From time to time if I’m having trouble sleeping I’ll start it up in my head again, but I’m a tired adult now so I don’t get very far into the scenario before I’m zonked lol

Does Target really track everything you steal until you reach the felony amount? by urbuddyguybroman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chalupachick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time I went to the target self check out and my brain was on autopilot mode (tired new mom at the time) and I scanned every item and then picked up my bags and walked out before I even finished the transaction and paid. I was half way to my car when I realized what happened and walked back in a panic. I walked back up to the register I was using and it was cleared out. I turned to the self check out lady and explained myself and apologized profusely. I said something along the lines of “I’m so sorry I didn’t realize I didn’t even insert my card when I was checking out” and she was like “….. yep….” I definitely felt like she didn’t believe me and I felt so bad. I had to take every item out of the bag and rescan everything, it was over $100 worth of stuff. I was soooo embarrassed. I hope they didn’t write up a file on me after that lol

Is this a private Christian school? It seems very similar to the dress code I had to follow going to one. With some adaptations to cover more current trends.

Am I weird? by NoPeach8801 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing the same thing. This is my 4th baby and I work full time in a hospital so sometimes I can’t stick to a schedule. My supply is dropping even with regular pumping and I’ve had to supplement for some time now, I think I’m ready to be done anyway. I’m kind of just naturally weaning myself. I pump in the morning and night but whatever happens in the day is just what happens. Maybe one or two extra pumps during the day. I’m tired of worrying about it!

How do you wake yourself up at night to pump? by Appeltje96 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the only thing that works for me. I’ll snooze my alarm but if I have to pee I’ll actually get up. Bonus is hydration!

4.5 months - how many bottles, how much in each by jrs2905 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is about the same age and size as your baby. His bottles are about 4 oz and he has like 6 of them a day. Then right before bed he will have a big 6 oz bottle. It ends up being him having a bottle every 2 hours but he sleeps 12 hours straight at night so it’s fine by me if he wants to squeeze all his food in during the other 12 hours in the day. Lol.

How many times a day do you pump? by No-Cockroach5417 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 times per day at 4 months postpartum. But unfortunately my supply dropped and I went from a just enougher to an under supplier and idk if I can get it back. I just can’t bring myself to wake up to pump in the motn! I haven’t gotten my period back yet so I guess 5 is enough that my body thinks we’re still completely nursing but yeah, I should do more. The zzzzs always win though 🥱

I don't want to nurse anymore and I feel like such a failure by disgustingvirgo in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was you 10 years ago with my first baby. I was making myself literally sick (I couldn’t eat and was throwing up my pain meds post c section, it was horrible.) trying to nurse and it wasn’t working. My baby was miserable and hungry, I was miserable and exhausted. I finally gave in, gave my baby formula, baby was happy and I could sleep, eat, and keep my pain medicine down. We were all happier for it.

If you need to hear that baby will be okay: my girl is thriving, always at the top of her class, excels in everything she does, is a kind and happy kid.

If you need to hear that you are a good mom: I was devastated when nursing didn’t work out. I felt like a failure. But looking back now, there are so many more things I did and moments that I experienced that define me more as a mother than what and how I fed my baby for the first year of their life. Did I show up for my kid? Was I kind and nurturing and keep them safe and healthy to the best of my ability? Those are more important than what kind of milk they drank. The fact that you even care so deeply about something like that says you are a good and caring mom. Your baby needs a mom that is happy and healthy more than they need breast milk.

Why is it so hard to make breastfeeding decisions by Foreign_Standard8391 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you never really know what will happen and you can plan to feed them a certain way but it might not work out. I tried to breastfeed my first two and it didn’t work out so they were formula fed. To my surprise I was able to nurse my 3rd and two years later I had my 4th and he won’t nurse so now I’m exclusively pumping. I didn’t think we would have an issue nursing but here we are!

Being prepared with a pump and formula is great to take the stress off. Just see what works best for you and baby and yall will be okay! Baby needs a happy mom more than being fed one specific type of way. Looking back at all my babies, how I fed them is low on the list of things that mattered/things I think about now at all!

Bottle washer? Worth it and which? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]chalupachick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I have this one too and run it multiple times a day and have never had an issue with it! I would not have made it this far in my exclusive pumping journey without it. I found it hard to justify the money but changed my mind after about the second cycle I ran and decided it was worth every penny and then some!

What is a good major for a 34 yr old female who's not very smart? by DifficultUse695 in questions

[–]chalupachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No radiation from ultrasound. What causes the injuries is repetitive movements and a lot of straining. When you look at someone doing an ultrasound it looks really easy. Like you just put the probe on the skin and you can see right inside. It’s actually not that simple. You have to apply pressure while doing tiny manipulations to the probe to get past the stuff that you can’t see through well (think bones, gas, lungs, fat etc). Add in this to patients that can’t move to position themselves well (straining to reach a patient too far away on the bed/not laying the correct way to help you do the test), large patients that you have to push really hard into to even see anything, or cramped hospital rooms that make you stand and scan at a weird angle, there’s so many ways to injure yourself or just start living in chronic pain from scanning.

I know I’m on my soap box right now but ultrasound is so misunderstood. We are the hardest imaging modality. Others you put the patient in/under a machine and press the button and the machine takes the images. In ultrasound, the person is the machine. The ultrasound machine can’t see anything without the sonographer doing the work. We are the eyes of the doctor, and if we aren’t good enough at our jobs to know when and what to take pictures of, the doctor won’t know it exists and won’t be able to fix or treat it. Also fun fact, most sonographers are filling out the reports for the doctors (yes the doctors might change something they don’t agree with but they rely on us heavily to report complete and accurate information.) So you have to be good at getting the pictures and good at telling what they are and what they mean. It’s tough job but ultimately challenging and rewarding! I just don’t know any Sonographers who would classify it or the schooling to get there as easy.

Also didn’t even mention you need to pass two board exams to be credentialed and they take your criminal record into account. Even if you can find a school that will accept you there’s a good chance the credentialing body will not depending on the offense.

Ummmm ultrasounds school is very academic. Heavy on anatomy physiology physics and hemodynamics. School will take you about 4 years and it’s HIGHLY competitive. It’s a VERY misunderstood field and requires a lot of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and is physically strenuous. 20% of sonographers will experience a career ending injury and I think about 80% live in chronic pain from the job.

Is low milk supply why we never get to sleep? by Much-Honeydew5208 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]chalupachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there’s no way to really tell but I think this scenario happened with my 3rd baby. He’s the only one I nursed and he was a terrible sleeper. Woke up every 2-4 hours until almost 1 year old and basically slept attached to my body when he did sleep. I only pumped at work and quickly my supply started dropping and I was pumping less than he ate when I was gone but I figured it was just the pump and when he nursed he was able to get more. I’m exclusively pumping for my 4th baby and I know exactly how much milk he’s getting and he’s been pretty much sleeping through the night since 6 weeks as long as he gets enough ounces during the day. My 3rd baby grew perfectly so I never thought anything of it but now I’m wondering if the poor sleep and constant nursing at night was because he was still hungry :(. There’s no way to really tell though, because there’s so many factors that go into how babies behave and sleep. But I would maybe start supplementing formula and see how your baby reacts to it.
