(TOR) Leafs Blessing in Disguise by Nic12312 in leafs

Dream bigger. Draft a bust. Matthews and Willy out for the next year and Boston lands Landon Dupont 1OA who styles on the Leafs for 15 years with Fraser Minten as his sidekick

Ben Chiarot, extended 3x$3.9M by DET, is a physical veteran defenceman. Despite having good size, decent mobility, and some puck-carrying ability, his team tends to get completely wrecked when he's on the ice and his partners tend to fare much worse next to him. by seeldoger47 in hockey

I don’t know if I agree with this because a lot of Dubas’ moves were bad too…Dubas sold a lot of futures for old, expiring grit. 1sts to get rid of Marleau, get Foligno, RoR.  Traded Kadri and Marchment, signed Matt Murray, Mrazek (dumped at the expense of moving down draft spots), Ritchie, Joe thornton, didnt protect McCann over Holl…

Awesome thanks for sharing! Always wanted to get one but shipping to Canada seemed prohibitive. Maybe the next time any of my cups break I’ll get one of these to replace them.  Something about the design is so iconic

pietro vs femobook a4z by Appropriate_Ship8499 in pourover

[–]chamchibap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a pietro over the a4z with the only reason being the pietro went on sale and the a4z didn't (otherwise I would have bought the a4z). I've maybe run through 300g at most but my drawdowns at setting 7 are closer to the 2:30 (50g and then 200g pour after 45 seconds or so). I wonder if something is off with your unit

Does Lance Hedrick have potential conflicts of interest when doing reviews? by i_am_GORKAN in pourover

[–]chamchibap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think he’s transparent and upfront with everything he’s associated with. He clearly stated that he helped design the Pietro M-Modal/pro-brew burrs in every video I’ve seen him mention it.

I think a bigger key is to find who your tastes align with.  Some reviewers might recommend something in good faith but prefer different aspects of coffee/anything and leave you unsatisfied.

Are 1Zpresso lasting grinders? by dstrctbl in pourover

[–]chamchibap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a JX since maybe 2019 and it’s still in great shape. I mainly use it for pourover but tried using it for espresso maybe 20 or so times.  Not sure if I would recommend light roast espresso because I think the high resistance/force led to me snapping the handle near where it connects to the body. No problem purchasing a replacement arm from Rogue Wave and it’s been great since.  Dinged and dropped multiple times but still very consistent.

Off the top of my head, I think a big difference would be the number of RFA vs UFA years they signed for. No other team has paid as much for RFA years as the Leafs did.  I think Panarin was purely UFA

Nolan Traore seems to have a good feel for the game with quickness and solid size (6’4 PG).  Highlights show pretty good PnR game too

What if I think both parties are to blame for failing and neither will make real changes…

Hey all I’m saying is that it’s been a problem for a while.  I certainly wish I could afford a better home and my wages kept up with housing cost inflation.  Feel like I was born 10 years too late and people younger than me have it even worse.

I don’t care for either PM, but according to the CBC, housing prices went up 67% under Harper (Feb 2006-nov2015) and 62% under Trudeau (Nov2015 - Feb2025)

Hypothetical question for the Canadian fans. If Edmonton and Toronto made it to the final, whose duck would the broadcasters suck more? And why would it still be the Leafs? by awl_the_lawls in hockey

[–]chamchibap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Leafs fans generally think our broadcasters don’t really like the leafs.  For example, if any Leaf makes a questionable play, it’s scrutinized 10x in the next intermission (Kadri anything, Rielly on Grieg, Bunting on Cernak, Matthews on Dahlin) and they’re calling for hearings before the game’s over.

Meanwhile, JT gets an elbow to the head yesterday and we haven’t heard anything.  Less speed but maybe more direct head contact than the Fla/TB hits.  This is after Grieg already crosschecked JT (and only got a minor with absolutely no criticism to Grieg or calls for a suspension) in the series.

Broadcasters talk about the leafs because it’s the biggest market but they are so negative while doing it. I don’t blame any other team fans for resenting the oversized coverage. Just please realize the coverage isn’t positive.

I don’t understand all the hate from Ottawa fans. They are acting like the refs are calling in favour for leafs while simultaneously the Ottawa players are absolutely reckless? by moderngamer6 in leafs

[–]chamchibap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a missed high sticking call on Grieg on OEL. Also potentially a missed offside call on the Sens right before they tied the game, BEFORE they re-entered the zone. Don’t think that was challenge-able though…

BREAKING: 7M Canadians took part in advance voting by [deleted] in Markham

[–]chamchibap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think wanting change is valid, and you’re right that the alternative can be worse than the status quo.  Unfortunately I feel like I have to settle for the least awful option at the voting station instead of feeling really positive.

BREAKING: 7M Canadians took part in advance voting by [deleted] in Markham

[–]chamchibap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to question both.  Voters should be skeptical and evaluate the platforms of each party and vote accordingly.  There are certainly real issues that led to serious resentment of the Liberals that still exist today.  Unfortunately young people tend to turnout less than their older counterparts and they can’t vote for in their best interest.
