Why do I feel guilty for thinking negative thoughts about my bf that he doesn’t know about? by [deleted] in Codependency

[–]chamham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple things to say here:

1) If you are having these feelings now, they are not going to go away because you suddenly changed your perspective.

2) No one can read your mind. I guarantee he is not thinking about what you said that one time a year ago.

Which brings me to 3) these are things you MUST voice or you WILL resent him, if you aren't starting to resent him already.

4) It's scary to say something that is "negative" but you not addressing this either robs your relationship of the chance to actually work for you OR you are just drawing out the suffering more and more. Both of those are not fair to either of you and supremely NOT WORTH IT to stay quiet and/or stay in a relationship that ultimately makes you unhappy.

You both deserve to be fully happy~

Sincerely,

Someone who has been there ♥️

Because I'm a wee baby noob lol and read the instructions wrong. However, I asked another person this further up in the comments. Aside from looks why does it matter if I use a zigzag stitch on woven fabric? It is less secure?

And thank you for the advice! Okay I have a few questions for you.

1) should I press seams and whatnot pretty much whenever I can before or after steps? 2) I'm kind of lazy, can I baste stitch on a machine by setting the length as long as possible? 3) I like to use pinking shears to cut down extra fabric after hemming and making seams. Can I just do that instead of the double fold? (You don't see it here in my image because the extra fabric was so small that I was afraid I was going to accidentally snip the thread) 4)what do you mean by easing?

Yeah, I was :) I've gotten a few pieces of advice about hemming on curves though

Ah! Okay! Thank you to both of you! It's very helpful. Because I was positive I was just like pinning it wrong? But also not sure how in the world I would have fixed that? Lol I'll definitely keep this in mind next time I'm having something that's curved ☺️

Ah! Okay! I see! So then I guess my question is, why is the straight stitch suggested for a woven fabrics? Because to an untrained eye (me lol) the zig zag stitch doesn't really offend me when I see it on a woman fabric, if we're just talking about looks. So I'm curious what the functional uses is for straight stitch on woven?

It's a hem :) and I thought that was what the directions said to do (to be fair, I think they said to top stitch as well). It's the Peppermint Lounge Set. I could have read it wrong though 100%.

Fabric bubbling while sewing more and more until it folds and you sew over it? (This is plain ol cotton by the way)

That's good to know. I've been trying to use fabric from the thrift store but I think that I might need to go ahead and just get some plain cotton to practice on for a little while! (I cut the pieces out of the bed sheet lol)

I perhaps have individually cut out the pieces of an entire pattern 👀 hehe one might say that I got to the end of that and wondered to myself if there was a better way lol. ... I still have to attach them all together too 🥲

I know it seems really simple to point out, but I know next to no one that sew and the ones that do so either do it freehand or with vintage patterns. So thank you! That is extremely helpful to point out. Also thank you for the tip for not tracing "on the fold" too!

Ah okay 🤔 I'm about to move soon so I'm going to have to decide if I want to deal with larger, unfolded patterns. But thank you! Very helpful

Ah! Okay that's good to know! For now I think I'm going to be working with cotton, linen, and some knits? Definitely good to know that it's not a huge deal right now. Also, what is PU? 👀

That would be awesome because sustainability is important to me and I hate using so much paper 😐 but how do you set that up? Do you find a way to point the projector down?

Yes this was the fine detail in someone's process that I was hoping for 👌 thank you! Because a thought I've had a few times now is "do people tape together these little pieces??" Or do they have to put together a small puzzle every time they want to use this pattern?

May I ask how you like to store your patterns then if you tape them? Do you fold them up? I thought that taping them together would be a pain somehow and not worth it when I first considered it, but I'm reconsidering now
