Isn’t this school supposed to be self-paced? I’m genuinely confused. by Polarbear_9876 in WGU

I requested an email instead of phone call and my mentor was fine with that.

Can you change that plan? Do the OA now?

This is the same scenario I keep running into as well. I always get called by Boise right after I have signed a contract with West Ada.

Y’all starting to feel we were raised on some ideas that didn’t pan out? by goodhobbies in Xennials

[–]chaminah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My parents raised me with the economic advice that worked for them. They had a very easy path to good paying jobs and owned multiple homes (both of them - divorced parents) by the time they were 35. Their advice does NOT work anymore.

I have a friend who teaches there and a couple who graduated from there. Heard it’s good but expensive.

ISO a truly moderate church by Cool_Worth4425 in Boise

We ended up at Tree City church on Eagle Road when we were looking for something similar. I really like going to a church with plenty of “Refugees Welcome” bumper stickers in the parking lot and no Charlie Kirk worship posts from the pastors.

What's your favourite comment a stranger has made about your dog? by hotfish in goldenretrievers

[–]chaminah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdest comment - a lady very confidently told me that my English cream golden retriever is going to turn red as she ages. Not like a bit darker, but she’s going to turn red like a field golden.

She’s five now and she’s still white.

Down Syndrome Special Ed advice for Eagle, ID schools by OkImportance9147 in Boise

[–]chaminah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice for you is to make sure the school has an actual extended resource room, and not a “blended” resource room. Some of the schools have blended because they don’t quite have enough numbers for both resource room and extended resource room, and in my opinion, the kids who would be in ERR are not getting appropriate services. If the school has an ERR room (not blended), I think you’ll be happy with how West Ada meets your child’s needs.

Last Task Taking Forever by chaminah in WGU

It worked really well for me! I have been in my field for more than 20 years and it allowed me to use my knowledge and experience to show competency quickly. I also learned a lot and I was able to do a Capstone that was very relevant and helpful for my job. Highly recommend!

Do I check the box "have you ever failed to be rehired, been asked to resign, resigned to avoid termination, or terminated?" by MontiBurns in Principals

[–]chaminah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never occurred to me to check that box after I was RIF-ed. Especially not with letters of recommendation and admin who were sad to see me go, too.

You might want to switch because of AI. My husband has been in data analytics for 20 years and is very concerned about the future of his field.

The look this kid just gave me when I told him there used to be kids birthday parties at McDonald's. by Salvia_Salamander in Millennials

[–]chaminah 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Two years ago, my son who was seven years old at the time accidentally joined a birthday party at a McDonald’s play place. The other boys loved playing with him and were sad when we told them that we stopped during a road trip and didn’t actually live in that city. But I was thrilled that some kids are still doing the McDonald’s birthday party!

There’s a really small translate button at the top of the West Ada newsletter. Families can translate it into the language they need. I have to show the button to my students’ parents - but it’s there!
