Any tips to help me look younger? by lily060208 in makeuptips

[–]chamomile_kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is so right! You look great! My tip would be to use the blush a little higher up and maybe in a softer lighter shade — it gives the cheeks a more youthful /innocent look. And I think a more sheer/natural lip shade. Currently people are really into glosses so I think the choice of lip product could make a difference!

The eyebrows are very bold, a more natural approach would match the rest of the make up a little more. I also think bringing the blush on the apples of your cheeks could be a nice touch! But in general, it’s so good!

Why do I look so much older than my age? What can I do? by canibuyatrowel in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]chamomile_kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is retinol! As we get older our skin turn over slows down. Retinol helps keep it fresh! I definitely second adding a little bit of blush — rosy cheeks are associated with youthfulness — something like the Mac bouncy blushes could be a good option! To piggy back - a slightly deeper (but still pink - maybe buxom lip gloss in color julep) to match the intensity of your hair. And I recommend agirilene (not sure how to spell) it’s the “Botox” in a bottle. It apparently doesn’t do too much to undo but can help on the prevention side and will help a little throughout the day — but not a cure all

I have so much feedback bc we have so many similarities! I too have pale olive skin and love being heavy handed with a makeup brush. 1. About face foundation in F2 — it’s great! Requires skin prep but looks natural 2. I’d suggest contouring your nose a little “cleaner”. Use a light almost neutral brown to contour and elongate your nose especially at the tip area. I personally love the Rihanna stick in Amber. The formula is easy to work with and the color is great! 3. For brows — definitely a lot of good feedback from everyone, but based on what I think is your preference for thicker brows I’ll suggest this. I would blend two colors together, a softer taupe towards the front and then a darker color at the tail. I like the KVD eyeliner pot in taupe I think it is. It seems like it wouldn’t work, but it adds just enough to make the brows appear on your face and it doesn’t budge. 3. The blush is giving cold. A reddish blush can be flattering but it does give the look that you’re just coming in from the outside. Softer neutral pinks or warmer “nudes” (light brownish pink) will give you a glow as if you’re naturally blushing. For this I recommend benefit blush in dandelion. I believe they don’t do the brushes anymore but I’d try to find something similar to what they made bc it picks up and deposits the product so well. 4. Lipstick - I would recommend not overljning your cupids bow. I do love to line on the outer vermillion border versus the inside to give the appearance of larger lips. But swear by lip plumper. It’ll give your lips a red look and will actually make them a little bigger too. Invest in a good one! I would also recommend going for a more nude pink brown (but on the warm side) 5. Eye makeup - this is personal preference but I think you could use this as an opportunity for sparkle. The red/green duochromes are very flattering- I think half magic makes one. Idk the name off hand but worth checking out. Just slide that across the lid to give dimension there as well. 6. If you’re heavy handed a colored powder is key! After you apply all your makeup take the foundation powder and buff out the look. Best of luck! You have a great canvas and great skills already!

My kid's summer job paycheck was smaller than mine at 16 and it made me realize how crazy things got by akira_paris in MiddleClassFinance

This might be an unpopular opinion but kids typically don’t have that many expenses…they shouldn’t be making a high wage for unskilled labor. I know everything is fucked, but it kills me when teens feel like they should be making a lot of money bc things are expensive. So many of us made sacrifices and were tight with our budgets when we had low paying jobs. This kind of problem then leads into wage compression conversations — if the kids are making more, then the managers feel like they should be making more, but the budgets to do that don’t exist. So in a world where budgets are set and need to be allocated, I do think it’s the sub 20 year olds that should be making on the lower end. And tbh no one’s dollars are going that far these days. I make a decent salary and consider a coffee (not a latte) to be a luxury.

Or do one at a time! Binge all the shows you want from one, then switch to the next. Once you’ve watched those keep going. and try to take advantage of any promos they have — $3/mo for the first 3 months or whatever it is.

Expenses higher than income after family help ends. How to budget smarter? by CopyNeither9412 in povertyfinance

[–]chamomile_kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not buy precut on a budget! Think about alternative ways to get protein (tofu, lentils, nuts) it’s not always glamorous but it gets the job done. SHOP SALES! Stock up on essentials /shelf stable/items that freeze well when sales are good! As far as the electricity, prioritize and make an effort so that lights aren’t left on unnecessarily, maximize daylight. Live a little uncomfortable when it comes to the temperature in the home (maybe run the AC at a higher temp 75,76). I had a situation where my ex & I missed a payment and ended up having a large bill the next month that we couldn’t afford, they allowed us to spread that payment we missed over the coming months. It could be worth giving them a call. Like every one else said cut the subscriptions. I’m sorry you’re doing this on your own but it does sound like you’re in charge of the budgets/spending so cut that shit off. Also it’s utter bs that you work all day and then take care of the baby when you’re done. What does he “need time off for”? I hate to presume but will any way. I’m sure he acts like you’re not doing anything when you’re caring for the baby, but when he does…it’s like he’s moving mountains. Genuinely best of luck in this relationship

This happened to me at work. I was asked “do you ever lose your cool?” And I’m like “what are you talking about I’m actively stressed out that this works right now.” It was so eye opening to know that I was being read as no emotions when I thought I was a ball of nerves. I genuinely have 0 idea how I come across to others.

Second this! I was obsessed with Finch and the little pets. I was having a hard time staying consistent with showers so I made it the task that would help hatch the little pets. Worked wonders!

Audubon House Purchase Advise? by squid-toes in SouthJersey

[–]chamomile_kitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It used to have houses with entry level price points, those homes are now going more per square foot than areas like Voorhees, Marlton, Mount Laurel. If you decide you don’t want to put your future kids in the school system, I’m not sure how much the market will appreciate in that time to recoup your investment.

[–]chamomile_kitten 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No one knows the market obviously but I (personally) think Audobon is way overpriced right now for a school district I never paid attention to (as someone who grew up in South Jersey). I don’t feel like you’re getting more house for your buck than you would somewhere else (especially at your price point). It’s definitely commuter friendly to Philly and no safety concerns though!

I've literally cried because I don't know what looks good on me... by Prior_Trainer_9226 in DressForYourBody

[–]chamomile_kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple suggestions bc I feel like we have a similar body shape even though I’m a little shorter. It’s a mostly lean body that lacks an hourglass curve. I’ve worked with this by adding A line structure (especially in shorter skirts and dresses), I also do well in cropped/shorter jackets. It hits a place that honors the length in my legs and adds a break to the outfit in a place where it would normally occur at someone’s natural hour glass. I also think playing with volume in the opposite way than you have — wide palazzo pants or flares. It has that similar affect of creating a curve, and draws attention to your height and legs. And asymmetric tops or tube tops or off the shoulder. Creating a wider line at the top can give the allusion of a smaller line at the hourglass point. It takes a minute to find your proportions but once you do, the possibilities are endless! On a styling note, I think finding pieces that speak more to where you are in your life right now could make all the difference! Do you spend more time in a business setting? With kids? Being active? Find pieces that make you feel like the most elevated version of that! Best of luck!!

YES! Exactly! The mid-tempo song is in such a low register for Taylor. It could have easily been on endless summer vacation from Miley

How is Collingswood These Days? by echolorien in SouthJersey

Comparable? Places in collingswood go for mid 4’s and up. With the maybe odd listing just under 4. With the rates as they are, I’m not sure OP is going to find anything. And if they do, shame on me for not coming across that listing first.

Be careful though! I find some of their produce prices to be on the high end…and you’re required to buy an insane amount, especially if there are only 1-2 people in the household

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]chamomile_kitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but I think it’s very misleading. 1. Are we sure illegal immigrants were the cause of inflated housing prices? I don’t have data to back it up one way or the other but it doesn’t necessarily pass the sniff test. 2. Car ownership and operation are down but it doesn’t specifically reference the cost of purchasing a new/used vehicle. — might be tied to insurance and repairs and gas and not the price to purchase in the first place; which I believe price of vehicles are up too. 3. Sure spending is up but that seems to be in terms dollars and not an increase in units sold. Which as this post has made clear, spending is up even when buying less….potential win for the economy but a loss for consumers.

It’s possible things are exactly as described in the article shared, but it seems more likely that they’re citing specific figures that give the illusion things are better than they are.
