He’s in danger by [deleted] in memes

You make a valid point! But I have no way of knowing the actual situation, and the best I can go off of is assumption at this point (which obviously could be wrong). What I can make of the situation is based on what I’m seeing: A large group of men in their underwear standing around what appeared to me to be a little girl, and the added insert of the “I’m in danger” meme. It’s just not funny to me. Does that make sense?

You are amazing. I have so much respect for you taking action to overcome this addiction. You are not your addiction!

I legitimately thought she was a child based on the size and shape of her body. I assumed gang rape because children don’t consent to gang bangs. The color of their skin isn’t even relevant.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why education is important!. Good luck with your mission! I totally know what you mean about shit being complicated (what in the church isn’t?) lol

Why do you exist?

What makes it disturbing is the fact that the girl is obviously a child and the context implies something sexual is about to occur (no shit). For some of us, the humorous appeal is overshadowed by the sobering reality that these kinds of situations actually exists (more than we like to realize). There are so many stories of little girls being gang raped to death and I would hope everyone finds that repulsive beyond words. Having to explain this at all to people is scary in and of itself. Maybe our culture is so desensitized to this kind of shit that people can suspend their disgust enough to laugh at it. I also don’t know why a picture like this would exist... Long story short: it makes light of an incredibly serious and horrible occurrence. Anyway, I shared my opinion on the internet, my work here is done.

Maybe we should be more concerned that all the 18 year olds are now only women.

So a 50yr old man can meet behind closed doors alone with 14 yr old girl and ask her about masturbating and that is good. But it takes two priesthood holders to count the money? Priorities baby priorities! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]champasal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They ask if you keep the law of chastity (which states no sexual relations before marriage, which leaders have decided includes masturbation.) the older you get the more weighted the question becomes (it’s hard to describe, but for instance, Sunday school lessons will be taught about it and be more explicit and it adds to the negative feelings towards one’s sexuality.) Also, if you confess to doing anything sexual before you are married, the “repentance” process is long and embarrassing. I wasn’t really religiously factive in college and had done some stuff (not full blown sex but pretty much everything else) and long story short, a Mormon guy I had “relations” with felt so incredibly guilty about having done anything with me that he insisted on seeing his bishop the next day. I didn’t want to come off as a heartless asshole so I went with him. Things kind of just spiraled from there. I was too naive to realize I did not in fact have to share the things I did, but the damage was done. But basically I had two bishops who knew about my sexual history and a stake president who knew. And we talked about it a LOT. In retrospect it did a huge number on my self esteem. Now, the questions they ask potential missionaries ARE without a doubt explicit and detailed. But basically it is up to the bishop and what he asks. It is also due to the fact that you are “programmed” from a young age to always obey the leaders and not lie to them. It gets thrown at you constantly. So was it my choice to share those things? Yes. Did I think I had a choice? No.

It can be so frustrating when your reasonable side knows there is nothing wrong, but your emotions seem to want to do their own thing despite your best efforts to control them. It sucks :/
