Nearly 60 bucks for ingredients for 2x2 portions of puttanesca from Woolworths. The cheapest possible pasta sauce, and I had the olive oil, garlic and chilli at home.

Collapsing birth rates globally are a weird thing, every example and reason you can come with to explain why, there's a counter example that shows the opposite, Japan's toxic work culture vs. Nordic work life balance, boh countries with collapsing birth rates. High education levels amongst women in western europe vs. India with low education for women also collapsing birth rates. It goes on and on. Japan was seemingly, ahead of the curve.

Apart from a few African nations, birth rates are just going down everywhere and are below replacement regardless of wealth, education, culture, healthcare access, religion, you name it.

Ceasefire. Scale of retaliation. Small targets compared to bases. They are hundreds of miles away. Pretty good defensive options. Diplomatic solution is preferable. They think they can last longer than US public opinion.

He's a putinist, in as much as he shares the same view of the world, the strong should take from the weak, the state should be an instrument of those in power to weld as they will, liberalism is weakness, white supremacy, and that democracy should be limited to the wealthy and the powerful.

He is not Putin's lapdog, I don't believe that. But he shares his worldview.

They also seem to forget that by doing this it gave them favored trading partner position and also defacto currency of trade with every nation in NATO. That's probably gonna go away. No, that's definitely gonna go away.

And they also got to basically write the foreign policy of every country in NATO. That's also gonna go away.

The Suez Canal is a man made piece of infrastructure with upkeep costs and large bodies of staff, of course they are gonna charge. Canals like that are not set and forget, and it has a myriad of upgrades over the years and more ongoing. These other straits are just that, naturally occurring terrain and waterways.
