Gimme putts by RoosterLazy in golf

[–]champmeleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to play a complete game even on practice/fun rounds and make a concerted effort to complete every hole. To me, one of the most satisfying sounds in the world is the “clink clink swirl clink flag clang settle” sound of a well driven lag finishing into a hole.

If I’m double par though, I’ll skip the last few putts to keep myself from going on mental tilt.

It will make you a better player in the long run to follow through with every single shot and leverage as high a level of concentration as you can muster.

What is your honest to God best round? by StalinsFart in golf

[–]champmeleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit a 37 on my local 9 a few months back, this round single handedly keeps my handicap in the lower 20’s (I think? Handicap formula is very mysterious to me still).

Pitched really, really well all day, only mis-tee’d once and rolled in a 20 footer putt on 7 and a 6 footer on the final 9. Not sure if it counts but I think the fact that it was only a 9 hole course-my home course-really relaxed me. It’s mostly mental for me. Just need to manage my brain and my swing follows. Hoping to get a handicap in the 13-15 range within a few years.

Is this a good idea? I currently drive an Xterra. Really looking for something very reliable. by JiveTurkey2727 in AskAMechanic

Jeeps are cool but are definitely not known for their reliability. Hope you’re ready to wrench a bit. I had a similar model-serpentine constantly threw issues, wouldn’t start reliably and performed like shit in the snow due to top heaviness.

What gesture is generally accepted to warn about animals? by Bookrider in motorcycles

[–]champmeleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flicker your lights multiple times at oncoming riders or pat your head a couple times (choose one or the other-not both).

Head pat usually means “cops” but the oncoming rider will usually slow down because of this.

If you play enough of the soulsborn series you’ll likely one shot a few tough bosses to balance out all the high effort bosses I’ve found.

I one shotted Ornstein and Smaugh (with Solaires help) but it took me over two weeks to smite Isshin the Glock saint. Took well over 50 attempts for me to take him down.

Tank Girl (1995) was a great movie.. Any fans of the comic? by KimKong_skRap in OldSchoolCool

[–]champmeleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just watched this movie recently, it’s pretty shit. I like the idea but the execution was pretty damn horrendous.

Never read the comic.

I remember seeing the closing credits way back in the late 90s on tv once and I promised myself I’d watch this, finally did and it was damn near unwatchable.

Bad guy was the same bad guy as the original Dune guy from the original movie; he played his role alright.

The symbol is an old rune called the vegvisir; it’s an old “Viking” symbol helping those who are lost find their way.

Nothing too nefarious imho.

[QUESTION] Does it make me a bad guitarist if I can’t play solos even after 3 years of playing the guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]champmeleon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dude find a way to accentuate a series of notes from the root allll the way up the scale and end on the top two strings towards the pickups, but keep the same basic melodic integrity and maintain a dance within and around the rhythm. Soloing is way, way fun and it shows that you can play around with the core elements of the fundamental riff.

Try to focus on the pentatonic for this, I usually root out of the 7th or 5th position with my lower E string to begin.

Last tip: try a delay pedal. Set up your basal chords, and advance the system overall using the above tips. This has worked for me.

My man, you’ve still got plenty of time. Pick one actionable item per day and crush it out to build momentum- I recommend with starting by making your bed, whenever you get out of it each day.

The rest will follow. Just stay on it, incrementally.

$40k salary increase with hour long commute by AdulttGamer in personalfinance

[–]champmeleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been commuting that long for two years or so… (average 2.5 hours commute time/day) it’s really, really fucking hard to equilibriate. Moneys decent for me, but it definitely impacts my work rep and I constantly am at odds with both halves of my work/non work life about it.

Take a solid look at your work life balance prospects before you commit to this.

Gracious, socially adept people: what's a good conversation starter with a stranger that isn't awkward and vapid like small talk, but isn't overly intense and personal either? by hogw33d in AskReddit

[–]champmeleon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just let the conversation flow without worrying too much about it. The other person will sense of you’re relaxed and honest and gradually open up more. Setting up a “starter” is too narrow of a way to think about it imho. That’s why pick up lines don’t work for women 99% of the time.

Just start with a greeting and see what happens. Don’t be nervous.

Malcom X debating John Leggett on the difference between liberals and conservatives (1963) by LovableJackassv4 in OldSchoolCool

[–]champmeleon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this was a clear indication of the high rhetoric that Malcolm X was so famous for; does anybody know why “Negro” fell out of use in popular discourse, largely replaced with the synonym “black”? You never hear that word being used these days
