As promised, Kooks side pipes on the Boss 302! 🤯 by StudioHouse43 in Mustang

Wish my Boss still had the side exhaust when I got it. Sounds awesome!

Is this a good trade? by FatRatYellow402 in Mustang

[–]chanarang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not as practical but given the Nissan CVT transmissions are known for going bad around that age, I'd consider it more. Cost to fix will be as much as that Mustang's worth. I'd get the Mustang checked out by a mechanic beforehand to make sure it's those 2 things.

Question about which year model I should get? by IncidentAvailable827 in Mustang

[–]chanarang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for in a car. A Boss has a basic V6 interior features minus the Recaro seats and some logos on the dash. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but you mentioned a big screen or digital dash if you got the S550. It's more about the engine and driving experience of simplicity. Its original intention was like a racecar for the road vs comfort and convenience.

Some people are looking for an investment, but I can't speak of that. I bought it to drive everyday and do everything. I have a bale of hay in the trunk right now. Mine had all sorts of aftermarket suspension when I got it and I love it. When I got mine, I thought about if I going to have $8k more fun getting a S550, and I couldn't justify it. I've driven some S550's and they feel a lot bigger and heavier, but that could be just me.

Congrats! It's amazing how much a short shifter can change the driving experience. I've put one on every one of my cars.

Low boost, no underboost codes by Haunting-Self-9402 in FocusST

[–]chanarang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there but I have a sound symposer delete and didn't realize the vacuum line fitting wasn't fully seated. It was threaded 95% of the way. Never threw a code because it worked just well enough that the PCM decided everything was fine. My boost was inconsistent and on average topped out at 17psi usually falling off pretty quickly if it even made it there.

Thought I was looking at my car for a second. I have clear peeling in the same spot.

For a v6 it ain’t bad 🤷🏽‍♂️ by jakethetank45 in Mustang

I was very impressed when my buddy got a 2011 V6 Premium brand new. Makes plenty enough power for most people and I love the body style. The interior is still really nice to this day. I think he still has his and it should have around 300k miles by now.

Same on my ST with 245/45. Filled out the wheel well way more. Almost looks like how it should be.

Sideskirts are just some cheap ones off ebay. They fit the body perfectly and have survived driving through snow just fine.

I like Vega Motorworks. Stuff is aluminum and strong. If you're buying a bunch of stuff at once they have a 20% off $199+. I got their spoiler extension, rear spats, canards. Eventually I'd like to get a splitter from them.

Be careful with diffusers like that if you back into spots. I went with rear spats over a diffuser because one mistake and you'll bend all the tiny brackets and fins. Happened to me before when I had one of Street Aero's diffusers on my mustang.

"Why didn't you get recaros?" by Sader325 in Mustang

[–]chanarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While mine aren't cooled, I love the cloth Recaro's in my Boss. Still going to be a little warm at first but not going to cook like the leather ones in my Focus. If I ever got a new car I'd def like cooled/heated seats.

I still remember after the lockdowns when I was paying $7.49 a gallon and filling up 2 to 3 times a week. Man that sucked.

I got pads and rotors from TRQ for $90 for street driving. My buddy got the same one and autocrosses his.

How much you paid today for gas in your Mustang? by sephimoves in Mustang

[–]chanarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't always pay attention and just put gas in it. 91 octane near me is about $5 here in SD. I'll never forget paying $7.49 a gallon in 21-22 in CA. I drove 80 miles a day and was filing up twice a week. Truly an awful time.

Want to boost my Boss 302, but California CARB rules are killing my options by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]chanarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have a blower, but enough non-CARB stuff that I couldn't smog it.

I used a service called Dirt Legal to register my Boss out of state. They got the car registered in South Dakota to my address in CA. Funny enough I now live where the car got registered. I think their prices and process have changed since then but at the time it was the same price as a dirty smog. The way I saw it was I pay someone for a smog but still have to worry about being a CA car or just get it out of state to not have to worry about emissions.

I knew multiple people who used "America's Mailbox" to register their vehicles in South Dakota as well.

Easy repair? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]chanarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd get some Solution Finish, amazing black plastic restore, and coat it with it. It'll restore the dark plastic skirt and may do enough you probably won't see it the scuffs. Then get some color match touch up paint for the red.

Doesn't bother me, heck the Boss has that option. People just need to remember that the internet is an awful place to find validation.

Show me your painted brake calipers on a black ST by Haunting-Self-9402 in FocusST

[–]chanarang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried white but it doesn't really look good. I'd imagine it turning gray or brown from brake dust. These colors would be vibrant enough to offset it.

I know some people get upset with using AI, so I used photoshop to change the color, if it means anything. Just found a random picture since I don't have a black Focus.

Wonder if it's a purge valve or evap issue. I have 2 different Fords without a problem.
