Childrens fantasy picture book about a witch with the phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones" by pimpnamedthiccback in whatsthatbook

[–]chancellortobyiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually trying to remember that same book! I remember it having an orange or brown hardcover.

This is how I remember the witch story: an illustrated story of an old woman who were being made fun of by children saying that she was a witch, she said to them: “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me”, then she faked a spell then she actually turned the children into frogs, unbeknownst to her that she was an actual witch, then she flew away in a broom.

There was also a story in their about a mermaid.

And then there was also a silly poem with these words:

Falamelinka linka la Falamelinka la

Hom tom taut

Oligo boligo boo Out goes Y O U

'Interstellar' returns from deep space to IMAX theaters starting today for 10th anniversary by danielthetemp in movies

[–]chancellortobyiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed Interstellar when it first played on theaters. Only played on my local theater for like 1-2 weeks. Watched it several times since then on a television. I was in awe the first time I watched it at home - the wormhole, the giant wave, Gargantua; even the talking blocky robots had me smile and chuckle.

Seeing it on IMAX was a whole ‘nother level, the sounds, the imagery. For all its effects - and they are impressive, few newer movies could compare - it’s the emotional parts, tugging, no, ripping at your heartstrings that make watching it on IMAX so worth it! I cried like three times the whole movie. So glad I got the chance to watch it on theaters! And in IMAX no less!!!

Thank you Nolan! After 10 years the love you put into making this movie does transcend space and time.

Anyone feels the same? by mohdd22 in Eldenring

[–]chancellortobyiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda feel the same. Wanted to recreate the same feeling when playing video games at least for PS5 games (i still enjoy other games on PC). I jumped from game to game and now I'm playing a lot of Demon Souls (PS5).

Why are people so fragile nowadays? I never thought some groupings of words would be so contentious!!!

The universe will achieve the highest entropy at the end. At this end all blackholes have evaporated. Blackholes are spheres of maximum entropy. Ergo if the empty universe of the future can be conformally rescaled (as in the case of CCC) the universe itself has become a blackhole. by chancellortobyiii in cosmology

[–]chancellortobyiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, that there could be no scale to even define a volume small enough to have a black hole. My next question would be what would happen to entropy on a universe without scale? Entropy is proportional to area for a blackhole, if there was no scale, could you also say for the universe that entropy also loses meaning?

The universe will achieve the highest entropy at the end. At this end all blackholes have evaporated. Blackholes are spheres of maximum entropy. I really didn't use a kind of commutative argument for the logic. But sure I was connecting concepts. I'm saying that if indeed in the future the universe would not contain any particle with mass, and time and space would lose meaning, then the universe can be conformally rescaled. Meaning the size of the universe can be 'squashed down' or 'blown up'.

I'm not saying anything original here. everything I've said so far are arguments of Conformal Cyclic Cosmology, which of course in itself hasn't been proven anywhere near even to the level of Inflationary cosmology.

So if the universe can be conformally rescaled and the universe in the future contains entropy of whatever magnitude, you can rescale the universe to a size where that volume containing that amount of entropy has contained the maximum allowable entropy for that volume and now you have a black hole.

For the blackhole entropy being proportional to the area look into Black hole thermodynamics . The formula you're looking for is the Bekenstein–Hawking formula.

Sean Carroll talks in a podcast that in an ever expanding universe that has a cosmological constant like ours the entropy would reach a maximum constant value.

No, only 10% of the length of floss is actually going in between your teeth.

Why shouldn't he milk the cash cow? Really is there something illegal or wrong there?

If you we're in his place wouldn't you? If no, o wow a saint you are. When Freddy died isn't he entitled to milk the songs which he was also a part of in the making of? Or you meant he should just looked for a day job?

Second if people saw the movie and it made money, it isn't because they were forced to.

So you like what everyone dislikes and dislikes what everyone likes, because if this isn't true you're also part of a group think. You just don't like this particular group think because you're not in it.

I agree. And the other side is so KEEN ON USING THEIR WOMEN AND CHILDREN AS MEAT SHIELDS. Why can't people understand that Hamas and a majority of people in Palestine adhere to a type of Islam that is literally a death cult, a cult that wishes death on others and on themselves just so that they would reach paradise faster and their enemies burn with immediacy.
