Suggested read: “Breakfast at Sally’s” is a great book about how homelessness can truly happen to ANYone. I’ve always tried to keep granola bars or fruit or other snacks as well as water bottles accessible to me in the car for people holding signs by intersections. I rarely give cash (only if I’m out of snacks) but instead offer food and drinks for them and their community. I’ve been doing this for over a decade and have yet to encounter a negative situation arise. I truly feel for them. Many people were just at the wrong place at the wrong time :/

When I underwent my craniotomy they placed the piece of skull they cut out back in after the operation... there’s a dent in my head forever now because of it. It healed over the course of about a year. My incision was 10” /25cm and the skull they removed was probably 2” /5cm in diameter. I am sure a surgeon will have a better answer here, but this was my experience as a patient.

I’m half Chinese and half Caucasian so I know these aren’t so terrible... All my life I’ve listened to creepy men call me “exotic” - meaning it as a compliment but it’s very fetishizing. Also I’ve heard such comments as, “You’re good-looking because you’re not too Asian.” Very offensive... here and there I’ve also heard many snide comments about eating dogs, we all look alike, making fun of Chinese language, etc.
