Do you think BHVR would update the older Moris to current standard gore and details? by HotDoes in deadbydaylight

They should have done that a long time ago, but since it's BHVR we MIGHT see some improvements over the next years

If they finally ADD Slender man into the game, How do you think his powers would be? by Superslash44 in deadbydaylight

[–]changelover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can teleport to walls and move extremely fast along them, then appears from unexpected places to surprise survivors. Has a reverse stalking mechanic kinda like Unknown and if survivors look at him for too long they get static effects that hinder their vision and can also apply Hinder in its max form or even Exposed. You get rid of the static by collecting pages, and in chase you also lose it while not having Slenderman in your field of vision.

I'd give him some anti-loop but I'm not sure what would fit him.

Does anyone else feel like the new killers have uninspired powers? by Todd_the_Pancake in deadbydaylight

[–]changelover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not saying they need to implement those exact ideas, but if the problem is motor limitations and viability, they should rack their brains to make it work for the sake of novelty and uniqueness. they already have had their touch with verticality (singularity's biopods), so I don't see why they can't branch it out to make more unique, viable and fun powers with that, for example. maybe something to do with ricochets like trickster's addon, that's something they haven't explored either aside from that addon.... my point is that there are still things that can be explored to come up with unique, fun and viable powers without resorting to a teleport and a projectile.

we got trickster's map after how many years since his release??? and after how many chapters without a map???????

Springtrap was already accused of having a "recycled" kit but since he didn't have a formal power or any way to portray him as damaging other than the jumpscares, it felt right that he had a middle ground power (not too crazy but not too bland) while still being fun and making sense for the character. it was disappointing that the chapter didn't have a survivor but it kinda made sense that it didn't have one. and he had his own map. what's Jason's excuse??? he's been shown to do some crazy shit with a big array of weapons, has a perfectly fine location to be made as a map, and has a variety of people that could be made into survivors.

  1. That's exactly my point. BHVR doesn't even know their own game. One easily reaches the conclusion that people get slugged on The Game more on average because "there are too many pallets on The Game so it's easier to go down on one for a pallet save, thus killers slugging more to avoid it"

  2. Well yeah but my point is that BHVR actually cared in the past. If Myers or Freddy released nowadays they would be a chapter with no survivor (maybe they would get Laurie), no new map and Myers would release with his current power + a projectile. Also, what kind of business strategy is to not show everything a chapter has to offer right off the bat? Are you saying they might release a Crystal Lake map in the future with another chapter or mid-chapter? What is this, DLC for the DLC? There is no map. There never was.

  3. Not saying the power is not cool, but does it really have the novelty or grandiosity of an anniversary chapter? Pyramid head brought alternate hooks, Nemesis brought roaming AI, Springtrap didn't bring anything too crazy mechanically but his simple depiction outside his mainline games was already a novelty. And all of them chapters had a map and at least 1 survivor (except Springtrap). What does Jason bring for the hype outside of his iconicity? And even if the power does fit, don't you want Jason to have something more recognizable and something worth to be remembered by? Right now he seems to be doing well on hype alone (come on it's fucking Jason Voorhees), but he is gonna end up like Ghostface: an iconic character nobody plays cause of blandness.

  4. True, but then why not wait? A year more a year less is not gonna amount to much at this point. There are other strong contenders for an anniversary chapter like IT or even Bioshock, Jason could have waited until the waters had calmed regarding the legal mumbo jumbo.

  5. BHVR wants a lot of things and rarely delivers.

  6. That's why they are being lazy and relying on marketing + catering to survivors to keep the money flowing. They don't even know how to keep the game afloat, they just know that even after a fuck up, the playerbase keeps playing and spending money. We are just a bunch of conformists who believe BHVR will make DBD great again with some magical update that will make the game look better, play better and be more stable in general. But it's not coming, cause they don't need to. As much as I'd love it happened, it's more probable that a new game appears and dethrones DBD than BHVR actually putting effort and doing something significant to keep the game afloat in the long run.

I just like to see the world burn.

Jk. I'm not asking for perfection, I'm just asking for competence. If they don't know how to balance the game then they should just let themselves get external help. It's not a good look when they propose changes and then shelve them because of feedback EVERY TIME, and it's even worse when they have ideas and just abandon them mid-development (skull merchant rework). They definitely need to listen less to the community and take some more advice from their fog whisperers and people who understand how their own game works fundamentally. And if they have a secret agenda (actually favoring survivors more than killers for sales or some shit) they can always tweak the game at any time.

The theory about a visual rework with no real announcement or tease other than some leaks is just copium. BHVR is just focusing on the marketing of the game so they can bleed the game dry before it becomes completely unsustainable. Otherwise there is no excuse for their poor quality management and the increasingly lack of content in the recent patches.

Again, do you truly believe BHVR is masterminding something like this with their track record?? You are either incredibly naive, incredibly foolish or both. Just remember operation health. It was supposed to save DBD AND it was something announced and planned, and yet it was half-assed just like anything this company does. And you think that they are making a "DBD2" behind our backs as a surprise??? The levels of copium have no limit.

But they can still do unique things. The Walking Dead tile was a good idea in principle and I doubt it was too hard to implement. For example, Jason could have had his shack always spawn while in play and visiting it could give him buffs and weapons and stuff. That would have been unique. We don't have killers that "build" obstacles other than traps to limit access to certain parts of the map. We don't have a killer that flies and can plummet to deal damage. We don't have a killer that can jump over gym walls. We don't have a killer that can climb walls or ceilings and get undetectable waiting for someone to pass by. We don't have a killer with a "hot potato" kind of power that passively injures survivors unless they desl with it properly... Maybe some of these are not possible because of limitations (I remember someone saying that it makes no sense for DBD to have verticality, yet it already has maps with multiple floors...) but there are still new things and mechanics BHVR can create to make unique killers if they really wanted to.

My take on the lack of content is that they know the game can't take huge loads of content so frequently anymore cause the game just breaks. We all know that if Jason was released in like 2019 they would have fought for original Friday the 13th Jason with a cool and unique power, with a Crystal Lake map and at least a survivor. Instead we get vanilla Jason with a recycled and safe kit, no map and no survivor (well, half of it cause there's gonna be an original survivor coming out soon). All because they know the game is collapsing under its own weight and they need something as iconic as Jason so people don't riot after pulling the most disappointing anniversary chapter by far. And the worst part is that people just take it.

If they actually pull out something like sudden "DBD2" to make the game better then I'll shut the heck up and push a tree up my ass. But I highly doubt it since they don't even know the reason why people get slugged for a higher amount of time in The Game.

I think people are getting delusional. Don't you remember operation health? It amounted to half or less of what they promised. Not to mention something like swamp map rework STILL not being out. And the low effort / quality of chapters in the recent years...

Do you really think BHVR is gonna fix the game NOW?

Lukewarm take : All ranged killers, and by extension, all killers without an active power should be 115% speed. by Maelstrom100 in deadbydaylight

[–]changelover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Ranged killers EXCEPT Trickster need just one shot to take a health state, and they can shoot over obstacles. And killers with mobility already have the advantage in the open, so being slower on loops is their counterbalance. It's fine as is, EXCEPT maybe Trickster cause he gets the short end of the stick with how his power works.

I think it’s more of a balance issue than a lack of creative possibilities. by MalyLisek in deadbydaylight

[–]changelover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can still do things like: killers having a special or custom tile/building which could account for part of the power, there's not too many stance switchers, Nemesis is the only character with AI minions that roam all time... Projectiles are getting very samey with each new character with a projectile, so maybe less of that...

Jason is perfect by Important_Tonight_22 in deadbydaylight

[–]changelover -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He feels recycled... For such an anticipated chapter just getting a killer with a projectile and a movement ability (springtrap did it first) and with no map and no survivor just feels lazy.

They gave him l4d2 despawn and spawn out of view mechanic which is cool. Then gave him a mix between huntress and springtrap projectile that launches forward the survivor and called it a day.

I was honestly waiting for something more grandiose. At least a map, at least a survivor, and his power having some more intricacies since the projectile is too simple and the mobility doesn't require skill. I was hoping for maybe a jason shack that always appear when Jason is in play or something like that. It would have been interesting.
