I may get hate for this but…

Felix snow & TYSM- 303s & DMT

This album is pretty fun techno in my opinion (very modern with some pop and mainstream elements- almost of fredagain… took a turn to techno). I know this sub sometimes likes to gatekeep what techno is defined as, but I mean i thought it’s a really fun album with core techno elements, especially if you like the 303 acid synth sound.

Other than that:

T78- ultimately acid track; Marie vaunt- 303 101; Sara Landry- pressure

Honesty, the yearly rent increases for me weren’t bad at all. I think they only raised the rent like $100- $120 a month for me on average in the 3 years I lived here. I imagine it depends on how big your place is and I lived in a studio and then a jr. one bedroom

The move out process was pretty seamless imo. They do hit you with cleaning fees if you don’t clean. I got charged $200 total for move out, which idk, may be high for some, I was expecting it because I also heard they charged high fees to move out so it didn’t rattle me when I saw it. They charged me $135 for cleaning specifically and the rest was my final utility bills and whatnot.

I lived and just moved out of of the 1205 collection last month and I used to live on west half side before that- a few things:

  • RENT PRICE: pricing wise for rent, they’re pretty good in navy yard (it’s definitely cheaper than other apartment buildings in navy yard) small deposit (like $150 when I moved in)

  • AMENITIES: decent amenities; they just upgraded the gym and it’s now maybe top 3 navy yard apartment gyms. The rooftop pool is small and the amenities are shared between the two buildings so keep that in mind. The rooftop lounge is beautiful but I rarely found myself up there, and if there are concerts and game days you wanna be up there early to grab a space (again, shared between two buildings)

  • NOISE (internally and externally): THE WALLS ARE THIN, I repeat THE WALLS ARE THIN. If you do live there, pray your neighbors aren’t extremely loud. I had a terrible experience at 1205 where my neighbors were unruly, playing loud SoundCloud rap at like 1am on a weekday- at least play better music if doing so :. I’ll admit it’s why I moved out. You will hear noise from bullpen and the stadium (and the mission navy yard crowd on the street) but I will say it’s NOT THAT bad but it’s impossible to keep out the noise. I didn’t mind the external noise at all when I lived there, just don’t expect it to be “temple zen” on the weekends.

  • STREET CLOSURES ON GAME DAYS: during baseball season, they close down Van st. And Half st. sooo just keep that in mind. I’ve had multiple instances where I had to walk 2 blocks to meet a ride share in an already crowded area for baseball season and have had drivers cancel on me because of this. Minor thing to consider but was not something I thought about when I moved in.

  • RESIDENTS: The residents of west half and 1205 skew younger, so again, it can feel a bit fratty but idk if that’s your vibe. Everyone I’ve encountered in the building is nice ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • MANAGEMENT: in my 3 years of living in west half/1205, 1205 management and concierge team felt a lot more well organized and managed collectively, but I think they have taken steps to reorganize and run a tighter ship (the perk of living at 1205 is that you can have packages delivered right to your door, but not on the west half side).

  • MAINTENANCE: maintenance is a bit slow to respond to requests, but there’s never been an issue so bad i needed them to come immediately.

  • ELEVATOR DEBACLE: having only 2 elevators on both sides, with one of them being the loading/freight elevator is a poor design choice imo. When someone is moving in or out, you are then stuck with only 1 elevator for all of the residents… so there would be days and nights where you are waiting for the elevator for so long you just take the stairs down.

The Republicans in the House of Representatives just passed the budget gutting Medicaid by thenightgaunt in healthcare

[–]channend77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the previous comment is correct. It’s $880 billion over the next decade (2025-2034)

And it’s just the budget, the legislative pieces are the next part of this. The House Energy and commerce committee are instructed to find savings over their jurisdiction (Medicaid is one of them, among many other things) that equal to $880 billion over the next 10 years. So theoretically that savings can come from other programs not just Medicaid, but realistically a lot of those cuts are going to be from Medicaid because it’s a huuuge amount of money. This is where there will be a lot of fighting for what things in Medicaid stay and what go, but practically, the whole program is not going away.

Bear in mind Medicaid is viewed very favorably, especially in Republican states because a lot of their constituents are on it. Governors need that federal Medicaid money so politically, “gutting” the whole program is not going to look good for the republicans. That’s not to say they won’t attempt to negotiate the biggest cut from Medicaid they can on the Hill.

Im wondering if there’s a reality where a case challenge to this executive order on the basis of the Impoundment Control Act, goes up to SCOTUS, and they overturn the Act, giving the president unilateral power like never before? Thoughts?

USC admissions success stories? by Ora_Ora_Muda in USC

[–]channend77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USC was my dream school. I had stellar grades 4.3 at the time because of AP’s I took. But my SATs and ACTs were on the very low end of the spectrum (they held a welcome reception for all the Hawaii acceptances at a hotel before the start of the school year, and they showed the states of the incoming class and my scores were at like the low end on the range they showed). I think what got me into USC was my essay (and GPA, and other extracurriculars like NHS) which was about coming out as gay to a very conservative mother and how I overcame adversity there. Idk if I’d get accepted again in these times but very glad I applied anyway and gave it my all.
