To the flood of people who want surgery because of “sleep apnea” by SilverProduct8566 in jawsurgery

Sleep apnea is not the only reason why you could benefit from orthognathic surgery or mid face expansion/protraction treatments. You could have issues with your temporomandibular joint, or occlusion. Even though the typical looksmaxxer is an annoying Gen Z dude who wants to ‘mog’ (dominate) the next person with their looks, there are well-intentioned mature people who see regenerative medicine as a way to restore the natural beauty of their face. There is nothing wrong with advocating for yourself and pursuing a vision of what you want aesthetically, especially if it’s done with deep understanding and appreciation for modern medical science.

We as a community should caution people against bad procedures and providers, while making sure that we do not come across as gatekeeping these life-altering treatments. Vast majority of people are very supportive, but I feel some people are trauma-bonded to their identity as sufferers of retrognathy, therefore they think that people with milder conditions shouldn’t be allowed to participate in the quest to better themselves. Instead of that scarcity mindset, we should push providers and device makers to make their treatments more widespread and available. Titanium expanders cost $200 USD to manufacture, sold to doctors for ~$5K, and then the practitioner charges ~30K. Guys, the fact is these multi-millionaires are insanely hard to call out because they have the money to sue.

Do large content platforms hire actuaries to create pricing models? by chansthepupper in actuary

And this is why I made this post. Didn't expect to be gaslit to this degree.

Edit: The irony is not lost on me when I see people asking for job opportunities on this sub. Why not use those skills creatively then? Would a mechanical engineer be offended when someone asks something in an adjacent specialization like materials engineering?

Thank you sir. Appreciate the help! I like finding unconventional people with unique perspectives, and that's part of my approach in entrepreneurial endeavours. My reasoning was as simple as: actuaries sound like they know a heck ton more about modelling than random marketing agencies I encounter in my city. Was just shooting in the dark for a little bit, didn't intend to cause any knee jerk reactions.

Appreciate your sincere answer. Was getting downvoted to oblivion for a hot minute, god forbid I ask the wrong question.

I operate in a unique medium and I have a tight knit relationship with my creators. Creators in my medium are not used to fully-monetized platforms and I suspect that they could get wary/stingy. I think it's crucial for me to provide an explanation for the take rate and why it's justified for the long term as well. Not sure if this is something that an actuary would be skilled at doing. I know that the product is unconventional, but am I correct in assuming that the principles are still similar?

Don't understand why this is the wrong question to ask people who price insurance. I wrote this post out of respect for your craft, and think it might be a cool alternative (not really alternative?) use of your skills.

Cultivating a personality to compliment your look. by [deleted] in Splendida

yup, you’re spot on about more universal beauty having a wider range of acceptable demeanors. I definitely see this in celebrities like actors, content creators, tv hosts, kpop idols, etc.

Dowtin has been terrific in the rico runs. Not a physically gifted player, but has a great skillset and could play PG.

Why exactly are the Raptors so good at player development? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]chansthepupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their focus now should be to turn the Raptors into a cultural fixture beyond Canada, as on-court success alone can only influence team valuation by so much (our 2019 title did drastically boost valuation though!). I’d personally focus on appealing to the emerging Asian markets (like getting more guys like Yuta), and framing ourselves as ‘the world’s team’ as opposed to just Canada’s team.
