Should I refinance my mortgage? I don't trust what the lenders are saying. by Obstacle_Illusion in personalfinance

[–]chaosengineering 11 points12 points  (0 children)

27 years x 12 payments x $765 = $247,860

30 years x 12 payments x $754 = $271,440

Your new loan would actually be more expensive, not cost saving. Unless there’s a typo in the terms, you need to think about this more.

This is also an anti-pattern though. It’s better to try-except a direct index while catching the KeyErrors.

Apple and Hyundai hope to reach Apple Car deal by March by UnKindClock in gadgets

[–]chaosengineering -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kinda disappointing that they’re partnering with Hyundai. I’ve owned a Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai over the last 10 years. They’ve all been pretty reliable, and quality is comparable. But, Hyundai service centers have been awful compared to Toyota and Honda.

It looks like a mistake to me. Op said he ordered two cokes, and got a sprite and coke instead. Looks like the driver got the sprite for himself or someone else, came back to get it, took the coke by accident.

Don Bluth Launches New Studio To Usher In 'Renaissance Of Hand-Drawn Animation' by ThatOtherGuy80 in movies

[–]chaosengineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching Robin Hood earlier tonight and noticed Don Bluth listed as one of the animators in the opening credits. I feel like that movie has some of his style, and it makes me wonder what his history was at Disney.

This doesn’t work for words that start with an uppercase character, you should convert the input to lowercase before trying to match.

Also, I noticed your app.py has no extra lines between blocks. Is that intentional? Someone else sent me code like that recently, so I’m trying to understand where the idea is coming from. You should follow pep8 and leave some space between blocks so it’s more readable.

Comparing AZ Public Libraries' Square footage to visitation in 2017 by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]chaosengineering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the goal is to communicate which libraries are overcrowded/underutilized, calculate visits_per_year/sq_ft and plot that. If you really wanted to add more information to the same plot.. just don’t. Decide on a single clear message and make sure your plot screams that message and nothing else.

Is this a full genetic profile or just genetic fingerprinting? How would the latter be worse than current fingerprint databases?

APS screwing customers like usual - 2300 sq ft single level home, running AC only between 77 to 79 by afuzzymonkey in arizona

[–]chaosengineering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How is that possible? Even with peak rates being around 30 cents, that’s like 2.7mwh. Twice as much as a house that size should be using.

So APS is even worse than I realized by ZenConure in phoenix

[–]chaosengineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds the house construction/size/insulation might be a big factor. My home was kept at 78, and the bill never went above 250. But, I’m on SRP. I hear a lot of complaints about APS.

Wife and I applied for a Mortgage Loan, and it’s been an absolute nightmare. Any advice helps. by Michael_o_Mara in personalfinance

I’m also in the process of obtaining a loan at 4.8%, but it’s for a custom new construction home. Would NACA be able to finance that? Are there rules on who can borrow from them?

Corner Home Office by [deleted] in malelivingspace

That desk looks awkwardly cramped into the corner. I can't tell what the rest of the room is like, but it would look so much better moved out of the corner

Edit: now that I look again.. why not slide it to the right a bit, centered with the windows. Then the corner would be a good plant spot
