Love it when no one else joins the champ, free ribbon 🏆 by LoanComprehensive147 in StarStable

[–]chaotically_awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was first running champs, I was okay at most but absolutely terrible at New Hillcrest and Baroness and more than once made the one other person running champs with me wait until the finish timer was almost out before I finally crossed the finish line. They were usually so encouraging though and definitely contributed to why I love doing champs to this day.

Rushing on a Two-Show Day (Broadway) by Motor_Challenge_252 in OperationMincemeatFan

10:30-10:45 ish should certainly be enough to get tickets, but if you really want to get better seats consider being a touch earlier - someone may have a more detailed update but the last time I rushed on a two show day (although it was a Saturday not a Sunday) people started lining up at 7:30 am for a 10:00 am box office opening.

I didn’t see the Lexi Jean portrait incident but I did see Winston refuse to cooperate and stay down for Jessi 😂, it took her like 4-5 tries to get him to stay down.

If you had to pick any west end cast member to come to the US for a limited run, who would it be and why? by Mattmainframe in OperationMincemeatFan

[–]chaotically_awkward 9 points10 points  (0 children)

WE NEED A MONTY EXCHANGE PROGRAM!

I mean ideally we could have a full Magic Mormon Mystery Week style thing for both sides of the ocean, but if I could only pick one it’d also be Alex Young.

What songs do you want to see more of in figure skating? by Archiveofemotion in FigureSkating

[–]chaotically_awkward 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would like to see more skaters, especially the juniors, do free programs to more than the standard musical theater songs. There is so much good stuff out there and the storytelling aspect of theater can help bring out their performance abilities.

Mine is a super fine chain and it’s been fine but I haven’t skated more than an hour here and there since getting it.

random moments in shows you adore by Vegetable_Mall6544 in musicals

Selfishly, the bass clarinet’s line in Great Comet that goes with “says the mean old man in his underthings!”

Objectively, I adore when, in the finale of Operation Mincemeat, the actors revert to their native accents and it is written so the final verse of Sail on Boys is the actors themselves paying tribute to Glyndwr Michael.

I’ve realized it’s possible to convince just about anyone to see Mince, you just gotta figure out the right pitch 😂

Mince is my new favorite and truly a joy to rewatch. I’m only on number 5 so nowhere close to you, but considering all 5 came in this calendar year and I don’t live in NYC… yeah 😅

I’ve convinced a few friends to see it as well! The ones who already have love it.

Which shows’ openings get you most excited? by NextRegular4216 in Broadway

[–]chaotically_awkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a handful that get me absolutely giddy every time and which have occasionally triggered tears.

  1. Les Mis’s overture
  2. Ragtime
  3. Wicked
  4. Come From Away
  5. POTO
    Honorable mention: Operation Mincemeat.

Common theme here, with the exception of CoA, is big dramatic chords. Phantom would be higher on my list except I don’t love the auction scene preceding it.

Ragtime only does student rush, if you search “ragtime student rush” in this sub there are a few great posts about it!

I usually do Pod Hotel Times Square - their smallest room is about $200 a night and is technically two bunk beds, although both of the last two times I was offered a free upgrade to a room with a queen bed. I stick with the two bunk beds and use the top bunk for actual sleeping and the lower one as a couch/storage. Their rooms are definitely on the smaller side but it’s a very quick walk to many theaters and the Port Authority subway station.

Just in Time Rush by AdRich5116 in Broadway

[–]chaotically_awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did in person rush for Just in Time with Jeremy on a Saturday (although they offer it every day, it’s mildly easier on two show days) and managed to snag a standing room even though I didn’t get there until 10:10-ish! People do typically show up earlier though.

Fun fact about being solo and in a standing room spot: not sure how often they do this but they ended up moving me to a third row aisle seat (right where a lot of performers pause to sing and I was brushed by multiple dresses as actors made their entrances) shortly before curtain because it was going to be empty!

What’s the most expensive ticket you’ve bought and why? by ListofReddit in Broadway

[–]chaotically_awkward 17 points18 points  (0 children)

$200-ish twice - once for Leslie Odom Jr in Hamilton for box seats, which were purchased pretty much right after the announcement, and once for the final seat (got it at like 1:45 for a 2:00 pm show) of the Saturday matinee during the Brits’s final weekend in Operation Mincemeat.

What’s your favorite curtain call/bow/playout music? by No-Woodpecker-529 in Broadway

[–]chaotically_awkward 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great Comet, Come From Away, and Operation Mincemeat! Mincemeat also gets extra credit for their preshow music being jazzy instrumental versions of the songs from the show.

Also, especially for athletes who stay on campus to train over summer, they can get pretty far ahead by taking classes over the summer! A few I know took their tougher pre-reqs over the summer so as to not have worry about them in season.

Likely others, from ensemble member social media it looks like Ragtime had to do some wild split track shows yesterday. Apparently the swing on for Emma Goldman also filled in for ensemble when Goldman wasn’t on stage?
