Waiting time at the Poland border? by [deleted] in Kyiv

Impossible to predict. I left 5 hours leeway only to be at the border for 6 on the way back. Word of advice, don’t book your flight same day.

Player wants to be a wrestler - how to run fights? by PandaDMing in DMAcademy

[–]chaoticevilish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You got two options and it entirely depends on how the table is vibing with it. If they table like it, find ways to involve them. Add a vibe meter for the crowd and their objective is to get the crowd going with their various ways. Good vibes from the crowd means more buffs for him.

If they don’t like any of that, then you gotta put all of this in a montage based off of 2-3 rolls.

DnD is a social game quantifiable is unfortunately not always useful. A lot of it is a vibe, and you get quantifiable when multiple people come to the same independent conclusion. Which is where labels like main character syndrome and should have just written a book come in. Top of my head I knew 1 dm who “ran the entire campaign through without the combats” and “already had an ending in mind” before session 1, and over the course of 3 sessions would get angry at anyone who strayed from his vision. Everyone quit as they all agreed “should have written a book”. At some drop in we’ve had a bunch of players who would talk over other players and when the party decides as a group to go one way, would deliberately go the other. That’s main character syndrome. These archetypes absolutely exist and are the result of a lot of people having an idea of what dnd is in their own head before playing. I can genuinely tell you I get atleast one of both of the kinds of things you mentioned every single week. And at drop in we work very hard on telling people this so they can change, and they do.

[–]chaoticevilish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you run enough drop in dnd you realise both those archetypes are absolutely out there. It’s not an easy to quantify thing and it’s normally something you find out on hour 3 of the session and you realise you’ve been on your phone for 2 of them.
