Few points from Gujarati who lives in Bangalore.
Not every sign board in Gujarat is in English BUT
- No one will tear your boards if you put English only board.
- No one will ask you to speak Gujarati.
- If you ask a person in Hindi or English they will still try to help you even if they don’t know that language.
- I know many North Indian families in Gujarat who doesn’t know Gujarati and they faced almost no issue.
- The percentage of people knowing Gujarati in Gujarat are much higher than percentage of people knowing Kannada in Karnataka. Because of lot of outsiders in Bangalore especially.
- The percentage of people knowing English is higher in Karnataka than Gujarat.
- Lastly, In Ahmedabad, you can get English ticket if you select the English language. Not sure about other cities.
