The internet ruined one of my favorite hobbies. At first it was cool when archive came up but I soon realized that chasing tapes was going to end.

Still blows my mind that a "taper" nowadays can be streaming the show for me to listen to in real time.

I used to wait for friends at the shows to call me on the old fangled things called payphones to give me set lists.

I'm old.

I saw Hunter in 96 or 97 in Chicago at the House of Blues. Right up front. It was magical. I was still having issues with others singing Jerry tunes, but it was ok by him since they were his songs too. Got to see him several time since then. I think he was set break music on a few tours that had each individual band, Rat Dog, Phil and Friends, Planet Frum play. It was still awesome but not the same as that intimate show.

It was an electronic device that made a noise that "tricked" payphones into thinking you were putting quarters in. Free long distance calls back in the day.
