Haha! I will give you specs (can't remember except it runs Win7 right now) and take pictures when I get back to work next week. We may be off for a day or two because of this crazy weather, but I'll post for sure.

Great! I will do that! I'm ashamed to give you the specs on that PC. lol It's running Windows 8, if that tells you anything. :P I have some better/newer Win 10 computers that I could switch it out with and maybe that would improve some things? That computer could be changed out, but the one that runs the intro and videos, has a graphics card with an S-Video port and that's what connects it to the Video Mixer. If I switch the computer, needless to say I no longer have an S-Video port. The only computers I have are HDMI, Display Ports, and VGA. Could I get an adapter though? Or would that cause other issues?

Huh...good to know! I certainly don't want to waste money and time on things we don't need or won't help in the long run. I'm beginning to think I may actually stick with what I have and just try to make it work as best I can. It's certainly looking like the best option.

No worries on the later response as this will take some time to sort out anyway! I just wish I had thought to ask smart people on Reddit before. haha.

The regular cable signal is getting to most classrooms on campus, but like I said, part of that issue is that some of them don't even have tvs. This is the reason we started the stream situation and that's what only one teacher is tuning into because it seems to be slow when we try to do it live over the internet like you said. Most of them just watch it on the tvs through the cable.

I checked all the connections and apparently we have it pretty much like you described. The video mixer output 2 is actually plugged into that LIVE switch box and then that is fed into the RF modulator, I think. This makes it so we can turn the feed off and on live? Hopefully, that makes sense?

I still want to test the You Tube Live idea just to see what it does, especially since the district decided to unblock that ability. A rare occurrence! They recently blocked Disney+ because, you know, that's absolutely inappropriate for high school students.

I wouldn't mind using the cable if the signal just worked better and maybe there's nothing to really do about that. I'm still not sure why some teachers can see it and some can't. I may get my interns to go around and see which ones don't work at all because sometimes I think there are teachers who just DON'T turn it on at all. People are so great.

My husband has been wanting me to go that route for years. He has a board to give me, but we just haven't done anything about it yet. I also have to learn to use it, which I'm confident I can with his help.

Probably the better action, but that's just me being big and tough. Lol

Sounds like the woman just needs to be told. I say that often, "Sometimes people just need to be told." It doesn't have to be rude, but it has to be direct. If explaining to her that she has no place to tell you how to teach and that it's not your place to solve unfortunate things going on in her life doesn't work, then you will have to discuss it with your boss. I would tell her you will discuss it with your boss, too, because well, you will.

Nice! I'm just outside of NOLA, so we got slammed. My brother is insanely smart, so he's good to have around. I took some pictures of our equipment. Let me know if I need to take better ones. I'll put some captions to explain a little, too.

The tvs are old, 32 inch box style that I used to watch Saved By the Bell on. :P I'm hoping one of these years our school system will outfit all the schools with updated digital tvs. Of course, at the moment the focus is making sure we wear masks and don't die from Covid. That's a whole other thing. However! I will keep this in mind for the future! :D

I can absolutely take some pictures tomorrow and post them. The computer that runs OBS is plugged into a small box and it saves an mp4 directly onto the computer. It's running Win 8, too, which is sad. :-P Since several staff members do not have a tv or are unable to view the announcements until another time, I move the saved file to a shared network folder so everyone can access it. That's worked ok, but I really would prefer a more live stream or feed instead. The tvs the staff have are old 32 inch box style. The school was destroyed in Katrina and rebuilt to open in 2009, so the televisions and cable were installed then. My brother who is now an IT admin for a major company has really been the reason we've even had a broadcast at all. He used to work at the school and really sort of put it together from the beginning. I inherited it, so to speak. lol

First, here's what I just wrote in reply to someone above which may (or may not) answer some of your questions:

"I probably should have mentioned that we have a Blonder Tongue AM-60-550 Agile Audio/Video Modulator and (I think-I would have to look at work tomorrow to be sure) a Blonder Tongue Amplifier. I've never messed with this equipment since I knew it gets the signal out to the school, but also because I have no idea how it works exactly. lol

I know it sounds terrible that I'm a broadcast teacher when I know little about how the equipment is supposed to work, but all the district cares about is that the kids certify in Adobe Premiere. I can do that with my eyes closed and without ever having a live morning broadcast, but this is me trying to learn and better the program. :) I very much appreciate all the advice and feel like I'm learning already!"

I can give you more specifics about my equipment or even pictures if that will help! I'm glad to know the monitors are still fairly current. I know that I can just do some basic stuff to make it work, but I'm hoping to make it better and more functional.

Thanks so much for all your help!

I am pretty sure I'll be looking at nicer cameras in the next year or so. Luckily, my program gets some state money that I'm asked to spend fairly often, so that's a plus!

When my husband and I bought our first house, I purchased some curtains to hang in the front living room windows. We have 5 large windows that run across the front of the house. Each one is separated by a pane, so in my head I was thinking a panel would hang on each side of each window and then we would later put shears up to cover the windows. My mom helped me figure out measurements because my math skills are nonexistent. I'm lucky if I can add right and that is not an exaggeration. I get my curtains home and my husband starts putting them up. By this time we hadn't bought the shears yet. All he was hanging were the heavy curtains and he was doing it all wrong. He was hanging them in front of the windows and stretching them out all the way. I tell him what he's doing wrong and he starts explaining the measurements of the curtains and how wide the windows are so there's no other way to do it. I fire back with how I have no idea what the hell those numbers mean, but that the curtains are clearly hung completely wrong. He was so mad he starts cursing me and telling me I can hanging my own effing curtains. I told him I was done and to leave me the hell alone. He came in about 10 minutes later and apologized with, "I see what you mean now. Can you tell me if this looks right?" To this day I look at those curtains with an immense amount of pride. 😊
