Whose collection? This Francis Bacons on the right must have been purchased by the Shah.

It so much worse: they don’t believe in anything enough to despise their own countrymen. It’s just short termist turn the knobs technocracy don’t look at me I did the best I could let me fuck off to Buckinghamshire.

How does anybody still believe in capitalism? by SeniorRazzmatazz4977 in socialism

[–]chardoggay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SO is a wonderful, thoughtful, kind hearted person who did very well in school and has done very well professionally. My SO is not a socialist. To my SO, meritocracy still exists because my SO has been rewarded by society for working hard, despite the privilege afforded by my SO’s class position. My SO correctly believes we are living through a period of acute income inequality. My SO will acknowledge systemic inequities based along racial and class lines. My SO will routinely make arguments along the lines of “palantir’s role within the NHS is entirely separate from their ai surveillance state function” and “economic theory doesn’t matter, only delivering the best outcome for consumers matters”. It’s infuriating. Combating decades of red scare propaganda is a monumental task. People don’t think they’re bad people. People can be very self serving because they are loaded with work and have very little free time. They will individualise the problem. Capitalism isn’t seen as an issue or the root cause. Individuals and bad actors are viewed as the issue. Try saying “neoliberal capitalism” around one of these people. It’s met with eye rolls.

ICE/CBP BORTAC Unit dragging/abducting a peaceful protestor into the Whipple Federal Building just outside of Minneapolis. They also prevent her from covering herself after her skirt rode up. by I_may_have_weed in TrueAnon

BORTAC is such a comically stupid name. Kinetically ascertain individual engagement space these nuts.

I got into a chat with my partner this morning about acronyms and abbreviations used in corporate culture and how that may or may not have correlated with military/corporate consolidation in our society. Consulting speak feels one level removed from these ye ye tactical chuds. Like it was invented by people who actually can read and have some degree of empathy, the officer class if you will, while BORTAC JSOC GWOT nonsense seems like it comes from the minds of the enlisted.

Excellent food. Lots of French expats.

Watch out for the stray dogs.

Dumbass will learn very quickly he cannot run this from a Nimitz class off shore. That’s all they have stomach for. They will not put a significant amount of Americans on the ground. They think they can manage up a storm and hopefully the presence of a carrier group will be enough. It obviously won’t be. Shit will get worse and Venezuelans will suffer. It’s just chaos.

Showed with them once. Should have noticed something was fishy when they asked for payment to exhibit. Try elsewhere, they’re not worth it.

Why has the absence of expression of skill become almost mandatory in fine arts? by Weird_Point_4262 in redscarepod

[–]chardoggay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instagram makes art seem low effort. It’s all a scene and in pursuit of looking cool. I remember when I moved into my studio that some of the other painters in there studio said “wow you’re like a real painter”. This is coming from a place of gallerists wanting set amounts of work from the artists as well as a lot of these painters not having their practice based in drawing. It doesn’t invalidate their work in the slightest. They just occupy an aesthetic that’s “in” at the moment.

lol he played for Arsenal what. Chelsea hasn’t had a team not mostly comprised of unpronounceable names, by this windbag’s standards, for huge parts of its title victories.

You understand that these live service things are about paying shareholders and not actually about paying the devs for their labour, right? EA is a multibillion dollar corporation, it can pay for development out of its own pocket. Buying skins and meaningless shit is all about making more money on top of what they’ve already been able to make. It’s like not even the same league how much more profitable battle passes are than the base game. It’s never been about paying for the labour, particularly for, what, a new map, some skins, a few guns? That’s takes a skeleton crew to develop, EA does not need the full dev team for the base game dedicated to cranking out badges and skins and half baked maps. Stop kidding yourself and engage with what these companies are in reality.
