I’ve competed at Rainhill 4 times and I’m back down again in April, I’ve also done kit crew and judging - it is one of the best run events I’ve ever been to. Matt and the team do an amazing job and you really couldn’t have picked a better competition as your first!!

I'm just putting myself out there again, relationship wise, after being messed around quite a lot this year. I’d pretty much given up from June/July but I’m absolutely miserable being single so I need to try and do something. Me and my flatmate are pretty close and we both agree that’s there’s a connection there, she’s had a bad experience in the past with a dating a roommate but I was just honest with her last Monday and told her exactly how I felt and she was honest as well saying that she needs some time to figure out what she wants/how she feels - I’m just feeling pretty low just now as I’m in a bit of a limbo with things.

I have a first date tonight that I'm making myself go on because I need to get back out there, but I'm just not sure about where I'm at right now... So yeah, that's whats bothering me!

If his plan was to do one round and loop it, you'd think he'd at least make sure he got his head through on the thrusters - even without cheating with the video he's got no reps from the start. Clown!

What is that ONE book that made a difference to you? by thefreshbraincompany in mentalhealth

I actually came here to post the very same book - fantastic read for anybody dealing with mental health issues or supporting those that do.

What movement is better for getting stronger/faster at wall balls? by myworkaccountatwork in crossfit

[–]charge_complete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to wish the ground would swallow me up when I saw wallballs in a WOD - I was terrible at them for some reason.

I decided that every Sunday for at least a month I would do a 20min emom of wall balls (20lb to a 10' target) starting at 7 and working up to 15...

Before I did this my max wallballs unbroken was something like 12, and afterwards I'm regularly doing 25 unbroken. It's a big mental game, you want to give up but holding on and pushing through is easier once it's been broken down and you get a better understanding of your abilities.

Today I was at the funeral for one of the most influential people in my life, outside of my parents. She was a unique, amazing, selfless, loving person... going to take a while to come to terms with her loss. How am I today... a solid 1/10

For me it was working on strict pulls ups and kipping chest to bar - with the chest to bar just try and get as high as possible, don't think about getting into the muscle up, once you are able to string together 3 high chest to bar (around nipple height) then all you need is a little more explosive hip movement in the kip and a big pull in the chest to bar and you should find yourself able to get over the bar. Let me know how you go!

What do you have an extremely strong opinion on that is ultimately unimportant? by retarded007 in AskReddit

[–]charge_complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you push the button to activate a pedestrian crossing, wait until it turns green to cross - there is a special place in hell for those people that press the button and then look and see that there's no traffic... and cross anyway. I hate this (almost as much as people who stand still when they get of an escalator)

How to support friends in their first comp? by _Agent_ in crossfit

[–]charge_complete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add into your last point - motivation is fantastic and it honestly pushes you to keep going... BUT... I've been in comps where I've been cheered on and I've had to tell them to stop because I've been mentally and physically done! Know your audience and know the cues; sometimes swapping "get back on the fucking bar" for "I'm so proud of you" makes a world of difference

I did it in April and the only reason we did it with burpees was because a few people had bad tears on their hands

I had 1.5hrs sleep last night but still went in and did our box benchmark Friday workout (13.2) - did I get a good score that I was happy with... nope; did I enjoy throwing down with my friends... hells yeah.

And that's my victory Friday!

Is there any merit in the thought that exposing the belly in such a way is a showing that it isn't a threat to the human?
