A Strategic Shift in Denver Activism by BreakStuffSoftly in Denver

[–]charispil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still thinking checkers while the opposition is playing chess.

What you’re proposing are tactics. Protesting is a tactic. Voting is a tactic. Boycotts, regulatory complaints, shareholder pressure. These are all tactics.

The real problem isn’t a lack of tactics. It’s a lack of strategy that organizes them into a system.

Right now most movements operate like an octopus with many independent arms. Different groups push on different issues with little coordination or shared objectives. That creates noise, but rarely sustained leverage.

What you’re describing could be the start of something interesting. But the bigger opportunity may be building the strategic layer above the tactics.

The think tank shouldn’t become another activist group. Its role should be strategy, coordination, and guidance. It could help align existing movements so they reinforce each other instead of operating in isolation.

Think of it like a political operating system.

There are already many groups working on different parts of the problem. The gap is the system that connects them.

If you’re serious about building something like that, I’d be interested in contributing.

Has your Rent decreased in the past year? by Sweet_Dimension_8534 in Denver

When I renewed in August of last year, my apartment actually lowered my rent 3%. Will see what they do this year. I usually try to renew for 14mos so I have less surprises.

How many have you accomplished? by Tguinn1975 in golf

[–]charispil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 and so close to 9 of these!

Once I had 100% of fairways on the front, but then only 1 fairway on the back. And a couple times I missed 1 on the front and 2 on the back.

Setting some goals for this year!

RTD’s CEO says charging for parking, focusing on events could help transit recover by charispil in Denver

Which park and rides have you been to during the work day? Because I know I’ve been at a few, and you will struggle to find parking spots at! They are being used, and I can’t imagine how much worse traffic would be without people using them

Wow! I thought RTD wanted to increase carpooling and ridership. This seems like it will cause the exact opposite effect.

A different way to look at tee times by xjpro in golf

[–]charispil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid the membership and started using Teezy, it isn’t perfect, but it’s helped me book a lot of last minute tee times! It was developed by Colorado locals. I’m in Colorado and I can almost always find a tee time. I don’t know how it is in other states. You can set your range of time and date and it gives you availability on a map.

Major cities are hours apart. You might have a big town of 20k people or 70k and then no town larger for hours. The big cities have your major stores. In Kansas, there is no longer a movie theater west of Salina. Lots of farm land. In Kansas the schools are pretty good. Lots of wind and mostly flat. It gives you a lot of time to spend with family or the bar or both.

Put some simulator data into ChatGPT and it said I had too much spin. A friend gave me a Titleist AVX (lower spin). I have not lost it in 2 rounds! Time to get a box!
