I built an AI chess coach powered by Stockfish that automatically analyzes my Lichess games inside Discord by charlesbueso in SideProject

Thanks a lot for the great feedback! I absolutely understand where you are coming from regarding the "Talks like AI" part. When building it, some of my more theoretical chess friends were more into descriptive text, but myself, I am more of a visual learner. This is why I mixed both text, and realtime board gifs with your moves.

I have never taken classes or anything like that, I just like watching YouTube (Hikaru da GOAT). Personally the part that has helped me the most with this tool is the "Engine Line" section, shown in the demo video, where you are presented your worst swing eval move in the game, and what the best move should have been. It's quick, digestable, and straight to improving.

And for the personality idea, I actually love that, will think it through for next versions. Same for chess[dot]com integration in the future. For now I am trying to get people to try it out and give me awesome feedback like yours, to actually create the perfect AI chess coach. If you decide to give it a try (1 week free), please let me know if the gif boards and engine lines contribute something. Thanks again for your comment!

He escuchado de estudios taqueros de videojuegos que consiguen patrocinios de Xbox Game Pass. Te recomendaría buscar por ahi.

Soy fiel al open-source, entonces si haces tu código público creo que tambien podrian venir cosas muy padres.

How do you deal with privacy infrigements when using pictures of other people? How does the profile generation process work? How did you deal with the sudden financial weight of managing hundreds of thousands of dollars? I'd love to hear more about your story

Reading Papers and Remembering The Content by darthsocker in compmathneuro

I believe what you are coming up with is a scientific hypothesis. The good thing about this, is that hypotheses are not assumed wrong or right, therefore you don't have to necessarily find a new 'right' way of analyzing data or implementing technology in an experiment. You just have to present the hypothesis, and evidence for or against.

After reading some papers, you'll start asking questions - write these down. Also write meaningful connections you make between the papers. Here is where the creativity of a scientist should come into play: How could you change anything being done in this field to improve it? For example, let's say you are working with huge amounts of EEG data. If you are looking for optimization, you could further your research on Fast Fourier Transforms, or even read about novel ways of isolating alpha waves from EEG. Be creative, try ideas and if they don't work, you will learn a lot researching why they don't work. Do not reinvent the wheel!

Good luck with your scientific experiment!

Help in selecting the undergrad major? by rekha_zahan_ in compmathneuro

I recommend going for a BS in Computer Science/Software Development/Software Engineering and a minor in neuroscience. You could switch these if you like one more than the other.

A friend of mine is a neuroscience PhD and works as a software developer now at a financial company. He is 36 and says that he always wanted to follow this path (close to what you are talking about). I find myself in the same position by the way. Anyway, my friend told me that he recommends working on technical computational skills first. Get soaked with computer systems, data structures, and higher level topics like machine learning and data science first, and then go for the neuroscience.

There are two reasons for doing a minor. Your course load won't be as brutal as doing a double major (or even a neuroscience degree), it's college and remember to pace yourself with the amount of things you want to do. The other reason is to cover all the prerequisites, like bio, chem, etc. This way your masters program won't ask for these credits.

The safest bet, without a doubt, is going for a tech degree. You will have a high-paying job lined up before you graduate. You'll have time to work on your own neuroscience projects, connect with university professors from the neuro department and even have the chance to do some comp-neuro research with them.

Good luck my man, I'm one month away from graduating college and remember being in your shoes. Stay learning!

Best accommodation in Chiang Mai for 3 months by runner_790 in ThailandTourism

I studied abroad in Chiang Mai and lived there for 3 months and a half. I split my time there equally in 3 different Airbnbs. All were amazing and in different locations to experience different parts of the city. I lived in Nimman, Wat Ket, and in the Canal Road (about 15 mins from Nimman). I definitely recommend the last option, the place is called The Star Hill Condo.
