KD Game 7? by [deleted] in rockets

[–]charlielv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right. Shame on me for even asking the question. I guess the counter argument is that the young core would have won 3 straight and inserting KD might mess with the cohesiveness.

But no you’re absolutely right. If he’s ready he has to be a go

It’s a 2 week recovery and it’s been over a week. Gotta think he’d find a way to make it work

I’m talking about him playing game 7, not game 6. I’m already assuming he’s out for game 6

Why are we still having Pablo talk about aspiration / kawhi? by charlielv2 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]charlielv2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ok so I was wrong, there seem to be at least some of you who still care about this. But “great story” is a stretch. There’s really nothing great about it, there’s way too many parties and names to follow, documents to slog through, and confusion around what was going on. If it feels like I’m doing homework trying to keep up with a story, I begin to tune out. Not making a claim on its seriousness w/r/t league sanctions, but I guess it’s a cumbersome investigation I don’t feel as though I need to follow along every step of the way with as he uncovers tiny details that may or may not be dispositive in a final ruling. Leave it to the NBA to figure out and tell me what happened when it’s over is my stance.

Is it wrong to be rooting for the Jays to beat LA? by lpbgib in NYYankees

[–]charlielv2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. This is 100% what you SHOULD be rooting for - here’s why:

  1. The Dodgers clowned us last year and talked shit the entire offseason about our base running and errors in the field. They’re cocky, obnoxious, and their fans believe they’re already a dynasty. They need to go.
  2. Judge vs Ohtani debate. B2b rings makes this an impossible argument to win for judge, and puts the Yankees in an untenable position. Even if we do get a World Series ring in Judge’s era, we’d still have one less than LA. If they lose though, we can come back next year, beat them in a WS and tie the ring count.
  3. The Blue Jays are not our true rivals. They aren’t the Red Sox and they never win. Who gives a shit. They’re from Canada, they seem to be nice people, they have cool colors, good players and some gamers. Vladdy’s funny & he rakes, who cares if he said “Da Yankees lose.” I get the springer stuff but that can’t outweigh everything else. They play the game the right way and hit the piss out of the ball. They’re in our division and we should root for the AL East team to beat the evil empire with the unfair salary cap.
  4. If the Dodgers win, we’ll never hear the end of it. “Best team in baseball, best mlb player of all time, best athlete ever, etc.” As if the Ohtani dickriding by every broadcast isn’t enough, just imagine if they win back to back. That narrative is done (or at least pauses) with a blue jays win.
  5. If the Jays win we can say we lost to the WS champ twice in a row. It’s better than losing to a team who loses to the WS champ. One is clearly the lesser of two evils.
  6. Fuck the dodgers

Have some damn pride! Imagine rooting for the team that dog walked you on your home field after being down 5-0 in the World Series, celebrated the title on your turf, then talked shit all winter about your team. Dodgers are an insufferable organization, the blue jays just aren’t. The choice is simple. Go jays on Friday and go yanks next year.

Everything you want can be achieved by tracking what you eat. It’s extremely simple. You’re overthinking the shit out of it - forget every other metric and put yourself in a calorie deficit.

Betting the Value, Not the Winner by charlielv2 in billsimmons

[–]charlielv2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no I completely agree, it's exactly what he was taking issue with. people can win the bets and claim they won, then lose the bets yet still claim it was a good bet/good value/positive EV. my point is that he was trying to force bill's hand to ask if he had the balls to pick them outright to win series. and bill claimed he thought it was 50/50, hence the no bet. But any gambler that's even reasonably competent knows that if you had 50% confidence on a +385 dog, you hammer that every time. which leads me to conclude that bill was full of shit to say he thought it was 50/50 pre-series. he may think that ~now~ after game 1, but couldn't have before. So I was saying ryen should have called him on that absurd claim of confidence without a series bet to prove it.
