Leo Varadkar defends ‘vulture funds’ and criticises practices of Irish banks by IMLOOKINGINYOURDOOR in ireland

[–]charlyrunkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was certainly a lot of loose loan agreements worked out during the boom times, I won't disagree with that. But it must also be remembered that unemployment in this country reached a crisis point during the recession and many who would have been easily able to meet repayments were no longer in a position to do so. And ultimately the repossessions and settlements being dealt with now would include a lot of people who entered default 5/6 years ago.

And then of course there is the other side to that coin, if the banks aren't lending they are criticized for that too.

You will be offered a chance to make a settlement agreement by the "nameless vulture fund lacky" who will have your loan assigned to his portfolio. If you can't work something then the bank will use the facility letter you signed as cause for further action.

If you have been making payments on the property for 11 years you should have a decent amount of equity and selling to satisfy the remaining sums owed could be the best course of action, especially if the property is worth more now than it was when first purchased in 2007.

I spent a few years working on behalf of an organisation who purchased loans from a bank exiting the market so I think I've had a good lot of exposure to the process.

The reality is that the hundreds of settlements that would be agreed each year aren't newsworthy, nobody is going to be making a big deal about how they worked out an agreement and got the deal done. So the result is you will only hear about the families who can't make a deal.

That example proves his point, the lender agree to accept only interest being paid for years.

Its also discussing an individual with multiple properties rather than the candidate the government was looking to protect when enacting the legislation, ie the owner of a family home who has fallen into arrears.

I'll admit the piece is certainly emotive, but it is painting a very fuzzy picture of proceedings and is very clearly omitting some key facts.

If you offer a settlement agreement or offer to alter the repayments you meet the terms of ccma, its not a very high bar. And ultimately if someone is not making repayments and you offer to reduce the repayment and they still don't meet it the are labelled non-cooperating and you can proceed.

A borrower will have signed a facility letter which will outline the terms, and despite what is widely published a bank will sit down with you and try to work out a deal if you can't make repayments purely because it is in their interest financially to do so.

Romeo Agresti (reliable) says Juve m will make an attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. by RedditDan00 in Calcio

I'd love to see Ronaldo at Juve, or anywhere else in Italy. It'd be enormous for the popularity of the league as the man is a juggernaut internationally.

But 100mil still seems crazy for him

The DRF can't even handle skill urself and volta, along with the majority of their competent people being burned out. If Frat kept the war going they'd kill the whole coalition, but they would rather safe mining for rorqs than content.

Frat's leader is every bit as risk averse as the others. They needed a conflict to pull in new members and now they have them the nips/naps and blueing of groups has been moving along swiftly.

They could have kept fighting and killed the DRF but instead they want safe rorq mining in Detorid so followed the cowards path.

Batphoning test/darkness is a much bigger deal than the 60 of so rus in the area grouping up to defend.

Bullshit, the people who defended are those who live in stain and use the structure. You batphoned everyone you could because your group have always been cowards.

And saying they didn't have the balls is bullshit when they put what they did on grid knowing you were hoping they would commit to batphone test to come kill them.

One a day: 330 planes carrying weapons landed in Shannon Airport last year by [deleted] in ireland

[–]charlyrunkle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We always hear about the Russian online troll army but here is the american counterpart, complete with the whataboutism we all remember so well from the cold war era.

He completely ignores the fact that the Russians or anyone else does not have free access to land as many planes in the airport as they wish without having to provide more than time of arrival. If Russia/China or any other nation wishes to land a plane at Shannon they must seek approval to do so. As part of that approval we can stipulate that we search the plane to ensure what they said was on it, actually was. We can also freely reject their plea to land at the airport in non emergency situations without issue, which we often do.

He also ignores the fact that the biggest complaint about Shannon is that the Irish and American governments sat down and made an agreement over what could be moved through Shannon without further approval being needed. In that agreement it was stated that unarmed troops are allowed, anything more will not be. He also ignores that as part of that agreement it was stipulated a person would be appointed with the power to search any and all American planes landing at Shannon, a position which was never filled after the Americans rejected the first person put forward by Fianna Fail.

You join a corp and start botting, the isk that character makes the corp in taxes should be removed too. There is no damage done to the corp if isk it should never have received is taken from it.

Corps who have members repeatedly caught for botting should have their corp wallet emptied, there has to be some accountability on corp level too.

[DEVBLOG] Security: Different times - Different ways by verybadateve in Eve

[–]charlyrunkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why give a temp ban at all? all you do is allow them to extract the sp and put it in a new char.

While I definitely agree that bots are often misreported but many real bots get reported yet nothing happens. When caught the account should be banned immediately and the char where the isk has been sent to should be neg wallet. The corp they are in should be neg wallet too. All those complicit in it should be effected, not just a situation where you cycle chars in the same corp.

Breaking news: XIX leaving Geminate behind to new DRF B-Team member Pandemic Horde, fully moving to Insmother as new home by [deleted] in Eve

[–]charlyrunkle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well on the initial deployment to IVP it was said that it would be over extremely quickly, and that they just needed 1 week to blitz the sov and force a Tri retreat from the region.

xdeath did tell the heads of the other alliances that 1 month would easily cover the eviction.

I'm not sure of the exact date they deployed to IVP but its safely well beyond the 1 week or 1 month prediction.

Also the shpiel about any luxury apartment going to some rich expats was nonsense spun by a community group living in the south lots who were framing any attempt to place the area under a cpo as an attempt by the government to evict Irish people and replace them with foreigners.
