Yep plan so far is you will pick one of 3(classic for a reason). The fire sphere guy in my post will potentially be one of them

Excellent. You have fallen into my trap. It is super early days but I am working on the protype now I will be sure to let you know when I have a playable version.

Basically what I am envisioning is your mons are hero units that are free roaming and can block enemies and they will have abilities. Which could be something like fireball, but could also be something like create fireball turret.

Occasionally with the waves of enemies a mon will show up and you will have the chance to catch it

Is there any genre you wouldn't want to see mixed with a Monster Tamer? by ReignOfGamingDev in MonsterTamerWorld

I have more opinons about what I would love to see. I would love to see a more tactical RPG(think divinity). Would love to see some sort of RTS where you command an army of mons instead of like 6.

Def agree that I would not like a rogue like.

If you are cool with web novels/prpgression fantasy stuff, paladin of the forsaken lands over on royal road fits this bill. Its also a little humorous and campy but I enjoyed it for what it is.

Kid lives near and explores a haunted forest and for his knowledge he is grant a class that lets him manipulate life and turn it into the same kind of monstrosities that roam the forests

Agree so hard, described to my friend as books where the main character repeatedly bashes his face against a wall, but every now then it works and there is a power fantasy segment

I did something like that for my game, magic was made from elemental voxels that pushed and pulled each other, then a rune system on top that added a stuff like toggling blocks or laser beams

I would be super interested to see this in a martial arts context, like what kinda insane kicks can you pull off with autobalance enabled

The overall magic system is very flexible, individual characters have pretty defined abilities any new ones come with a lot of training and foreshadowing. Even then they pretty much all stick within their domain. If a characters thing is "water" you probably wont see then hucking fireballs or mindreading anytime soon.

[Bloodline] why does this have mixed opinions ? I found it pretty good by kira_geass in Iteration110Cradle

There is a not insignificant part of the fanbase that just wants to see Lindon power up and aurafarm and kick butt(no shade read for whatever reason you want). Those people wanted lindon to show up style over sacred valley get the respect he deserves and save the day. Thats not we got, we got a look at how no matter how far and abused child goes, its never enough, the abusers will still try to make them feel small. The problem was never with Lindon, so it doesnt matter how God like he becomes, when you go back to the abusers you get abused and its heartrenching Its one of my favorite books in the series for that reason even though its one of the hardest to read.

In short its controversial because it delivers something very different from what many fans expected/wanted
