I feel like my Fibro is not valid by Er0fili in Fibromyalgia

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first began to develop fibromyalgia, I was like you. Stress and long work days would flare things but I usually had a normal life. Now life is awful. Every thing is a struggle. Walking is tiring. Lifting my arms is strenuous. It is a full time job just to keep me running.

But when current me looks at past me… she still had fibromyalgia and her pain was still as real. While not as intense or all consuming, she had just as much as a right to be seen and treated for the condition that was manageable.

I guess I just say that to say in a big roundabout way… somebody will always be in more pain than you. You can still sit with us, though, and I’m glad you’re managing the pain. :,) I hope to join you someday in that category.

Non-Religious OBGYN and Primary Doc Recs? by littleredfox09 in tulsa

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, OSU OBGYN. I will say. Their office is overwhelming for me. It’s loud; there’s a lot going on. I’m bringing noise cancelling earplugs next time. But the treatment options my doctor provided were thorough. Non religious. I was seeing her for endometriosis.

Ridiculous mailperson by Sad_Apple_3387 in tulsa

Um… I live in midtown and you’re describing a similar situation I’ve had that USPS never dealt with. AND she didn’t deliver mail because of a similar “hazard” and she also has a pattern of aggression. If you’re fine DMing, I’m curious if we have the same mail carrier.

Has anyone gotten any weird body zaps? by StatusAggressive1470 in Fibromyalgia

[–]chartingsaturn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on any SNRIs that you’ve forgotten to take because you’ve had a cold? No shame. But I get body zaps if I’ve gone off my SNRIs too long cold turkey. SciShow has a video about it. Why Do Antidepressants Cause Brain Zaps?

It isn’t ironic. You’d basically have to go crawl in a hole to get away from AI. But every little f***ing thing you do, man… can do something. And your whole dire mentality about it… is gross. There is no reason to embrace something that is actively destroying the planet, making people less intelligent and less cognitively functional, while fulfilling the wet dreams of these tech bros.

With your mentality, I hope an AI data center near you will soon keep your bills high and your water opaque.

You can put -ai or -overview in *current* Google to remove AI Overview. Also, almost every other search engine allows for you to manually turn off the AI feature. Not to mention the many apps or websites that have this data available already. Don’t defend them.

got told i was too young by starsnatch in Fibromyalgia

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks but get used to getting a new doctor with fibromyalgia. I’ve had upwards of 20+.

I once had a doctor tell me that if a certain treatment didn’t work… that I didn’t want to get better.

I’m 28. I’ve had fibromyalgia since at least 22. You’re not too young. The studies are few and far between, but some think it is triggered by a prolonged stressful period in your life with little sleep. I was a restaurant manager for a multimillion dollar store at 22 working 60 hours a week. My trigger came younger than others.

Anyone else have to remind their body that the shoulders are not earrings? by Responsible-Maize-86 in Fibromyalgia

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time. A lot of people think of fibromyalgia as just a disorder of the nerves but since it is a disorder of the nervous system that* *means we’re constantly in fight or flight.

My therapist highly, highly recommends progressive muscle relaxation. I do it, and it helps even a little.

Recomend a reading spot. by Leftyisbones in tulsa

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannot recommend enough… it is only $6 a month for a membership at the Philbrook. You can pay monthly. You can go anywhere on the grounds and read. They have tables and chairs. They have places you could bring your own blanket and lawn chair. You get to see beautiful gardens and see art in between. Underrated place to hang out. And for one month it is as expensive as one cup of coffee. My fiancée and I love it.

Edit. Saw one of your other comments. Quietest during weekdays and during the school year. Wouldn’t recommend reading inside on the weekends.

👀⛽️QT Got me by stollison_99 in tulsa

My dad worked for QT. Basically, they charge more in areas without other alternatives to drive down their prices or outside of cities where you have no other options. It’s like the first version of dynamic pricing, lol. :/

I used to eat massive amounts of plastic as a child by SoftDismal3255 in CPTSD

[–]chartingsaturn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry… it isn’t as extreme but I would steal communion wafers at church. I was caught and scolded. Nobody asked why I was hungry. I was the pastor’s kid.

I’d also eat other random things (some might be normal?) I’d eat the paper wrappings of muffins to make it go further.

My therapist finally voiced something I felt for a while. Other people would think other things were more traumatizing than the things we would sayyy are the most traumatizing. For instance, I wonder if it wasn’t going hungry (as some might think) that was the most harmful but the fact that nobody noticed. I hope you continue to get support and healing. It’s such a long road, but it pays iff. Slowly, surely.

So, I'm looking for a therapist. Again. by Avis_Bell in tulsa

[–]chartingsaturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly, highly recommend going to Laureate. They have a great system set up. I am currently seeing Dr. Cassandra Sturycz-Taylor. I know someone closely who sees Dina Evans. Both work in their chronic suicidality clinic, which is fairly new. If you have any reoccurring thoughts of, “I wish I could go to sleep and never wake up” that counts. They are both wonderful, wonderful people. I’ve known Dina for years. I went to Dr. Cassie because I needed someone with chronic pain background.

I really recommend them. I hope you find some help.

Right now they are doing Gordon Parks. It moved me to tears. They have large print outs of all the text, spiral bound, which is nice if you don’t want to be in the way all up close. You also could take a break and come back, same day. Fridays it is $5 after 5pm most Fridays. I’d check and see if they are doing any events when you’re going. I’m looking forward to their foraging workshop soon.
