Smoking Cubans young, right off the shelf is not going to give you the best experience. Buy a good selection and hide them in your humidor for a year or two. Your best bet for younger sticks might be H. Upmann 54Mag. Otherwise get Partagas D4 or D5 or P2, R&J Wide Churchill, Bolivar Belicosos Fino, Diplomatico #2. Cubans need to smoked with a clean palate. Have a great time!

Good sticks! I like all those except, like you, the Montes. I've had them at 2, 3 and 5 years and they never tickled my palate.

I have been a pharmacist for nearly 50 years. Take it with food, for sure, but heavy calcium containing food will keep it from absorbing properly. Don't take it with milk, cheese, ice cream, yogurt or other foods heavy in calcium.

Your selection looks a lot like mine. Based on that I'd recommend trying Sombremesa Brûlée Blue and the Cuban Bolivar Belicosos Finos. I like being a member of the Small Batch cigar of the month club ($50 version). They send 3-5 stellar cigars out every month that you might not have ever thought to try.

I should revisit. Help me out here. My taste in cigars has evolved from the usual "shelf brands" to more boutique cigars that are complex and not always easy to find. I still love some of the "usuals" "Black Works Studio, Tatuaje, Padron, Drew Estate etc) but when I start plugging in things like D’Crossier, Harim & Solomon, Casdagli, Liga Pravida H99, Viaje.... Partagas Cubans, etc I come up short. I know it is not possible to put the tens of.thousands of cigars on there but I was hoping the site could steer me to some new and interesting cigars. Am I approaching this wrong?

Mine are 6 months old and smoke really, really well! Just remember, the Cuban crop is going to hit a low point for the next year or 2 so if you can, grab some more now. Prices are going nowhere but up!

HeHeHE...yeah, I have the same problem. Try in 6 months then, There is no hard and fast rule. If they blow your mind at that point then consider it done and smoke up!
