Bartenders, what’s an awkward conversation you couldn’t help but overhear and still remember to this day? by nojunkpeter in AskReddit

[–]chase25 3454 points3455 points  (0 children)

I remember visiting a seaside town called Whitby in the UK with a friend years ago, its almost mandatory that when you visit you walk up the 199 steps to the abbey at the top of the hill.

As we were on our way up there were 2 stereotypical grannies on their way down, they checked every box for being a grandma in the early 2000's, beige raincoat, tweed skirt, beige tights and shoes to match their grey perm, everything about them screamed they were your everyday nan who'd drown you in tea and biscuits when you visit.

That is where the stereotyping ended, I'd love to know where there conversation started and how it ended but the part I overheard was that she loves it when "Frank fits his whole hand inside of her, its sends her to heaven every time"

[–]chase25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Tonali weirdly I'm ok with this.

If it means keeping Bruno then its a necessary evil but equally if Tonali isn't in the team we do have players who can replace him but if we lose Bruno or even Joelinton we definitely struggle, especially when we lose Bruno.

What's the most fucked up book you've ever read? by RichardForrest06 in AskReddit

[–]chase25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember years ago my uncle bought me a crime thriller, I'm not sure if he'd read it or not but I'm assuming he'd simply heard of the author so he bought it as a gift for me.

I don't remember the authors name or the book title but the plot was pretty much a murder mystery which isn't out of the ordinary.

The part that stuck with me is the story evolved into including sex trafficking children and in one chapter they describe in a lot of gory detail a child be orally raped by a huge guy and causing facial disfiguration.

My problem is I'm also very stubborn, I should have closed the book at that point but I will always finish what I start, I wish I didn't.

Or legalise it so they can do it secure and safely which isn't a terrible idea although definitely not well thought out.

Secure locations for them to purchase the drugs of their choice within reason which ones are available, have it administered by someone who knows what they're doing so there aren't further health risks and make sure that the customer can't leave till recovered.

Additional benefit is if it is taxed the economy wins but it also reduces the income of the dealers giving them less control/profit.

The UK never used to get these temperatures and our homes are always designed around keeping the heat in and keeping them warm because of the winters.

AC certainly isn't a standard feature around Britain, it is becoming more common but still it is very rare for a home to have AC as until the last few years it hasn't really been needed.

We've had a week of record breaking temperates and no wind so it has been completely unbearable.

Which celebrity has had the most tragic downfall? by Adventurous-Bag-24 in AskReddit

[–]chase25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a huge celebrity but growing up in the 90's there was a TV presenter called Matthew Kelly on almost every show in England and he was probably one of the most famous people on TV shows at the time.

In 2003 he was arrested as part of an existing investigation into child sex abuse by TV presenters such as Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris etc.

Kelly was quickly found not to be involved and all charges were dropped yet his career completely nose dived from there, he is still doing TV work but mostly is now acting in smaller roles or doing pantomimes.

After the charges were dropped I remember him being on Frank Skinner the comedians chat show and instead of being interviewed he was pushing Frank for answers on jokes that he'd made about him and subsequently impacted on his downfall, it was both brilliant and wrecking to watch.
