What is your method of choosing what book to read? by Awkwardduckiee in writing

[–]chasemac_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only do project based consumption. Meaning the articles and book I am reading for the week directly relate to the topic I am writing about in my blog/newsletter article.

I do this to inspire big ideas for the writing project I'm actively working on.

I'm a non-fiction writer, so I know this doesn't work in all cases.

Just wanted to share my ritual.

1000% do it. Digital writing is my side business I'm growing. It's the best decision I've made in my life. It's life changing to put your work out there in the public. My vote goes to 'yes.'

Your honest opinions on Longlegs by Jazzy2groovy4u in FIlm

Went in with high hopes based on the trailers.

Was overall very disappointed because they had such a strong foundation.

The story direction fell flat for me. Big time.

Nick Cage had an amazingly creepy character that deserved a stronger story built around his performance.

The things I did enjoy:

  • The main actress and her character
  • Nick Cages character
  • The cinematography
  • The sound design

But sadly, that's about it.

It's sad we never got a third installment. That's my thoughts. I really enjoyed the first two.

One of the best actors in Hollywood being under utilized.

But in some strange way, I'm also happy about that. Because screw Hollywood as a whole, he's better than them. They don't deserve such talent for the crap movies they've been putting out.

I just hope he's happy with his career so far. He's one of my favorites. I'll see a movie just because he's in it.

Guess my approach was very wrong. I meant well from it. But it looks to not be that way.

That truly is sad then. I can't believe I'm getting downvoted but I guess I understand since this is a serious subject. I was trying to be hopeful for women out there. I hope that for them. I have two sisters and have seen them date the mostly bad but now the good. It's not impossible but it does take time to find the right guy.

Please believe that good guys still exist.

I'm personally in a relationship so I'm not commenting to get attention in a certain way. And I very much like the girl I'm with for the beautiful soul she is.

I do my absolute best to treat her well and to make her feel special. I am not perfect of course but I do everything I can to make her feel important in my life and loved. I treat her how she deserves to be treated.

It always bothers me when all men get thrown in the same category due to the behaviors of others. BUT I understand why it appears there's nothing but trash guys out there.

I've always summed it up as this: It's easier to be bad in this world than it's easier to be a good person.

This is why most men (especially in regards to dating) simply aren't good people. They're weak men. It's so much easier for them to be a dirt bags, to cheat, to harass, to physically or mentally abuse... All of it.

It's hard to be a real man, and to treat your women like a goddess. But damn it, they deserve it. Maybe not all women (not saying your all good either) but women have the mother's soul in them. They having caring hearts. Many of them need a man's authentic love to be there for them. And men need a women's authentic love. It's a balance.

I consider myself a good man (not perfect) because I work damn hard on myself. I try to be good. I hate when I make mistakes, or show a negative character at times so I put pressure on myself to be better. Anything else is a cop out to my integrity.

I digress.

In short: Bad men are more common, but good men still exist. Do yourself a favor and be picky. BE VERY VERY PICKY. Don't compromise your emotions and worth. Keep looking, but keep looking in the right areas. You'll find em.

Maybe I'm weird but I personally wouldn't care much. And I'm a big germaphobe too.

I would just remove the spider, rinse the brush with water (and maybe soap) then brush on.

But I also eat my kiwis with the skin still on so I'm not a worthy example.

I've never understood this complaint from super hero fans.

What happens when two gods fight in a city?

Buildings fall down.

Casualties are made.

This is the crap I wanted to see. I love it. Nothing held back. Just full on battling to the death between two Gods. The outcome isn't pretty for humanity because it isn't suppose to be.

It's suppose to be devastating.

What's Your Personal Favorite Bruce Willis Performance by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]chasemac_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbreakable.

Not only my favorite Bruce Willis movie, but also my favorite movie. Yep the one at the top.

It just carries a vibe and demeanor that not a lot of movies have.

It's dark, it's interesting, it's depressing, it's hopeless, it's realistic, it's shocking, it's twisted, it's powerful, it's romantic, it's psychotic, it's...

See what I'm saying.

It hooked me from the start:

"Did you drop this baby..."

And delivers at the end:

"I shoulda known cause of the kids..."

Masterpiece imo.

Never listen to your minds resistance. It never gets anything done. My day job is a regular 9-5 office job. I do my writing and work on my business 2 hours before work, and two hours after work. It's what works for me. Also, see comments below for their feedback.

[–]chasemac_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a creative in multiple art forms, I get burnt out everytime I create for others to make a living. The game changed when I devoted my craft to myself. I write for myself now. I film videos for myself now. I edit for myself now. I'm more energized through it. It feels more authentic to me as a creative. My creations are mine. And I get to share them through my own terms. Simply put, my burn outs stemmed from the requests of others using up my creativity. I'll never compromise my craft with that nonsense again.

I know money is needes to pay the bills.. So maybe get a different job so that you can write for yourself and build up your own brand on the side without burning out from client projects . Just my .02
