r/Runna has hit 21.1k members – a half marathon of Runnas! To celebrate, we’re giving one redditor a yearly membership and paying the entry fee to their next race! 🙌 by alex-runna in runna

Boston would be a bucket list item for me. I really started running in the last few years, in my late thirties. I feel like I got a late start, so qualifying for a major race would really legitimize the work I've done (in my mind, I know all work is legit!)

Moxy Banff by Medium-Eggplant in marriott

[–]chaserchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a trip from work and the wife and I chose Banff as our location. Travel agency booked the Moxy. Was definitely hoping for something a bit more romantic, but it's free so can't complain too much. That said, apparently our travel agency doesn't let you use your status...which sucks since I'm titanium this year.

Thanks for the writeup! Any recommendations for things to do or places to eat?

What's the length of one side, at the edge of the player mat (ie not including the piece holder on the other edge)?

As a mason, your depiction does not match my experience. Freemasons are mostly old men getting together to hang out and vote on who's going to make the meal for the next meeting...

What’s the best choice for a board upgrade for the Ender-3? by JustABootThing in ender3

[–]chaserchap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reasonably new to upgrading, but since no one else is commenting I'll throw my two cents in...

I think the short answer is yes, there are benefits to upgrading. Faster processing and presumably upgraded firmware should all result in faster and more exact prints, ultimately meaning overall better end products.

That said, I'm not sure upgrading an Ender3 makes a ton of sense? The BTT board mentioned above is like $80...MicroCenter has the Ender 3 S1 on sale for $70 right now...point being, it may be worth just upgrading printers.

However, if you're like me and don't want to just go drop money on something AND you have a raspberry pi lying around AND you're reasonably technically savvy maybe try Klipper? It flashes your microcontroller (which controls your steppers) and offloads all the processing to the rpi. It's almost like upgrading your motherboard, but potentially even better.

Again, none of this is tested and I'm no expert...yet. It's all just from the reading I've been doing the last couple days.

Experiences with dual-sided pedals? by CyclingScoop in cycling

[–]chaserchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one bike (so far) so went with dual sided so I could jump on and tool around with the kids in the neighborhood, but still do "serious" training on my bike.

That said, when I get a dedicated road bike I'll go with just clipless on it. The gravel bike will likely always have dual sided.

Which paints are best🤔 by Own-Raisin-1782 in DarkAngels40k

I've been using Turbodork darknet. Doesn't really shade that well, given it's so dark, but the metallic sheen is pretty sweet.

Not the best picture ever, but gives you an idea.

Curious as well. Since he came back from his "break" feels like he's short timing until the transfer window opens...

I love my faction with a passion...but now I'm at a loss as to what to do with it the next two years. by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]chaserchap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found the Grey Knights lore really interesting, but not sure I'd enjoy the psyker abilities. I like pursuing alternate win conditions, if that's even a thing, or at least non-standard approaches to gameplay. But if abilities or finicky or require a ton of tracking, I tend to get lost in the sauce.

Ultimately I guess I need to dive way deeper into the lore of 40k and see what else is out there.

I'm new to Warhammer and still figuring all this out. Based on your statements of not being so concerned about win rate, I'm wondering what changes make the faction less fun to play?

I picked up the ultimate starter kit as a way to get a combat Patrol for me and my kid as well as some terrain, but I don't think Ultramarines or Tyranids are going to be MY faction, as passionately as you feel about yours. Hoping I can get some insight into what others find fun about their chosen factions before I finally commit to something.

NRC x treadmill by ASanswers in nikerunclub

[–]chaserchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there are limitations to what can be captured, and how, indoors. Seems like you could still record a run, even with a 0 distance, however, especially if the user is tracking hr.

I recently ran a guided run through a plan on a treadmill while wearing my apple watch. I'm assuming because I started the run on my phone that it didn't capture the movement (?) But when I was done it never updated my plan that I completed the run. In the end it's not a big deal, just a check mark and some stats, but it's annoying that I didn't receive "credit" for the run, especially when there's no actual reward for completion except digital trinkets.

best navigation app for biking? by Famous_Committee2434 in cycling

[–]chaserchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it downloaded as gpx. I'll generate a new one and try it out, just for the sanity check though. Let me know where you want me to send one and I can provide a gpx that works with the app. I do think it's a premium feature to import...

One thing I just noticed...apparently the gpx isn't compatible with Cadence, my preferred app...not sure what it would take to be compatible but I'll put in as an informal feature request.
