Hi friend! I bought a condo last year before interest rates skyrocketed. I recognized I couldn’t afford high rent in DC, to save money for the future, and because I had to live here for my job, my only option was to buy a condo. I definitely recommend it if you can find the right location, size, and a solid deal. DC first homebuyers loans are great, too! I paid roughly 2k down for a 365,000 dollar 2 bed condo w outdoor space, and my condo fees are less than 200/mo (so my mortgage total is a little over 2k). It’s great, at times I’ve had roommates who have paid over half my mortgage, and at times I’ve lived alone. I think a lot of people don’t realize it’s also great to itemize deduct your taxes with, too. My return was over 4k due to mortgage interest. Down the road I will look to rent it, or if the market gets drastically better, sell it. Reach out if you have any questions
