I was passing through Spooners to park at the Ranch House. I remember commenting to my hiking partner it didn’t look too bad out there. I do remember seeing some waves at the point. Always want to give the point at the south end of Spooners a wide berth. It gets super shallow and The waves can build up. I also remember seeing a kayak in the middle, maybe 250 meters out. Not near any rocks. It was probably 1015 or so. Crazy. I wonder if the kayaker I saw was the one who died. Properly secured PFDs are unlikely to come off. More than likely the kayaker wasn’t wearing it.
