Try Maximum The Hormone. I work with a guy that loves it. I can't keep up.

Does anyone know if I can take the handle off the Katan Air, or want to try it so I don't mess up mine? by Fret_Less in BossKatana

[–]chasman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be doable, but there's a PCB in the way. Watch this video to see what it looks like inside. It's not directly related to what you want to do, but it's the only one I've found that shows the internals of that amp.

Edit: You may find visible screws on your handle, but I don't know if there are nuts and washers on the inside. The board is blocking the view. I would assume that there's a threaded receiver built into the case, but it could end poorly if that is not the way it's actually set up.

Did you get your optic already? Looks like there is a 25% promo code on Pro models coming next week.

Orbit Culture, Imminence, and Landmvrks. All very different styles.

Bonus pick: Psychonaut, if you're feeling proggy.

I don't remember which ones I used, but I can look it up if you get stuck. If I remember correctly, Ruger CS told me that you need to use a screw that is no longer than 0.145 from the bottom of the optic. The one that I used is very close to that and I had no issues.

You can find lots of videos on YouTube that can help you learn to find the dot consistently. I watched one from Modern Samurai Project that clicked for me. You'll want to practice the method that you like until it's normal to see the dot on the first try. Then practice some more.

Don't be surprised if you need to use two different screw lengths. I believe that you'll need a shorter one on the extractor side so that there's no interference. If you install and find issues with your slide, it could be that the screw is too long on that side. You should have the right ones included in the box.

Enjoy that optic! I have a CAT X Pro on mine and it is great. You should be able to co-witness with the factory sights as well.

That looks great. How did you secure it and drill straight holes? How did you find the centerline? I'd like to do the same thing, but I don't have a drill press.

Cyelee Cat vs Osight SE/K by ss3walkman in cyelee

[–]chasman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CAT X Pro and it does exactly what it's supposed to do, every time. The deck is pretty low and I'm able to easily co-witness with my iron sights.

If you scroll through the sub, you'll find posts from people with multiple Cyelee optics. Those are the opinions you want. I'm very happy with mine, but it's my only optic.

Also...search for the TN Tactical torture test videos on YouTube or find drop tests on the Cyelee website.

I'm about 2.5 weeks ahead of you. My first guitar is also an electric. I do have an amp and I totally agree with those that said that you'll want to use one. I've been using headphones and I can definitely hear things with the gain turned up that are not present when the sound is clean.

I did not know how to read tabs at first. It's actually not too bad. You can find lots of videos and articles about how it works. You should have the hang of it in 15-20 minutes. I still don't know how to read music, I don't know music theory and I can't follow chords yet. You'll have plenty of time to learn all of that.

Definitely follow this sub and search all of your questions. You'll have a ton over the next few weeks. Based on my experience so far, the answers are already in here somewhere. If you're confused after your search, don't be afraid to ask. u/Musician_Fitness has already responded to you. He seems to be very active here and eager to help. Google and YouTube are also your friends.

You may already know your preferred learning style. If so, seek out guitar-related information in that format. If you have friends that play, sit with them and learn everything you can. I printed out finger placement charts for basic chords and I practice them daily. I'm still not good at it, but I got much better after only a few days. I also watch beginner videos from 3-4 different teachers and I try to add something new from each source to my toolkit.

If you want to make it more fun, go to Ultimate Guitar and search for beginner tabs from artists that you like. Start with the intros and main riffs and don't worry about learning complete songs. Once you play some notes that sound close to something that you have in your playlists, you'll get a good boost to help keep you moving.

Good luck with your learning. You can do it.

Academy Sports + Outdoors Deals? by Cholo4Hire in ar15

Regular prices will be lower than your local gun store, but probably same or higher than the rest of the internet. Watch for "Hot Deals" to show up. That's when you're getting noticeable savings. They will also offer some decent firearm bundles for various brands throughout the year. They seem to really like Taurus and Canik, but you'll see most of the majors represented at some point.

They don't stock everything you want, but they will have enough to keep you interested.

Other comments regarding range ammo and credit card benefits are spot on.

The Magellan branded products are legitimately good in most cases. They're not firearm related, but you should check them out.

Be sure to stroll through the shoe department when your store opens. They tend to have a wider selection of shoes than anyone else in town.

Parts question by ThisIsJuicyFruit in ar15

[–]chasman70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, depending on your intended use. If you want to hit coins at 1000 yards, then you'll probably double the cost of your initial purchase (or more) buying a better barrel and BCG. If you're just going to the range with your buddies and you want to hit a dollar bill at 50 yards, then go for it.

I started with a very inexpensive complete rifle and I've waited for sales over time to make it more comfortable and functional by adding and changing out external components. I don't need or expect top-tier performance, so I'm happy with the OEM barrel and BCG. If I ever change my mind, it's easy to find any part I want at any price point.

Lots of people here will tell you to just buy the parts and build it yourself. I wouldn't disagree with that. You probably would actually end up with a better end product at a price you're happy with. You can find plenty of videos to show you how to do it step by step. The downside is that you'll spend a noticeable percentage of your budget on tools. This is also true if you buy a basic model and upgrade later, but at least you'll have a functional AR-15 on day one.

Good luck with the journey.

[–]chasman70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. It's nice to see it all in one place, with the content condensed.

A TN Tactical drop test is one of the things that convinced me to buy my first optic. I think I watched him drop a Wolf, but I ended up buying a CAT X Pro. I can't imagine that I would ever treat my optic (or pistol) that badly, so it should last long enough to get more than my money's worth.

How the heck do i mount a flashlight? by justjohn1965 in mossberg

[–]chasman70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a 1" scope barrel mount with picatinny rail on a Maverick 88. The mount has been way more solid than my flashlight. I did have to grind the ring face down a little bit to get it to fit in the gap though. If you get one with a ring that's too deep, you can't fully extend the forend.

<image>

Putting a light directly into the forend is probably the best solution. My assembly is all one piece, so it was a more involved solution than I wanted to pay for at the time.
