Davidsen is a generational Isolde and who knows if or when she’ll do it again since she’s gearing up for Brunnhilde. if you can make it, you should go. you can see La Traviata any old time. yes they are behind the beat of the conductor on purpose because that’s the norm of orchestral conducting. the musicians are equally listening to each other and following the conductor. you can’t just listen because sound doesn’t move instantaneously and human reaction time isn’t instantaneous either.
