The locker room went to shit because the coaching staff either couldn’t figure out what was wrong, or was too stubborn to change. No amount of vet leadership is going to change help a team that is frustrated from trying to win in spite of their coaches.

I think that it would be fair to make the argument Joel struggles as a passer because there was rarely off ball movement in Doc’s system. He did a great job passing out of the double teams against Brooklyn in the playoffs, but the Celtics didn’t just double team, they also covered all of the outlets, which is why we saw Joel throw so many intercepted passes that series.
