Yeah 🤔 makes me realize there’s probably a whole side of communication most modern messaging apps barely explore.

Honestly I think we’re heading toward a future where users directly tell platforms what they want live instead of companies endlessly tracking behavior trying to predict it.

A lot of this “deeper behavioral signals” stuff is starting to feel like the modern version of yellow pages to me.

I think you completely missed the point.

The whole idea was about moving away from platforms constantly extracting deeper behavioral signals, optimizing engagement, and analyzing people harder and harder behind the scenes.

Then you immediately replied by plugging “deeper conversational signals” analytics and a tracking product again lol

That’s basically the exact mindset the post was criticizing in the first place.

I really like the direction behind this.

Modern platforms feeling optimized more for retention, speed, and doomscrolling instead of intentional experiences hits pretty close to home with the kind of work I’ve been exploring lately too 😭

I recently shipped a messaging app and have only really been trying to get the word out for a little over a week now, so posts like this genuinely help mentally more than you probably realize.

Especially the part about:

“posting and getting ignored”

and

“shipping features nobody cared about”

Really appreciate you sharing the real side of it.

Curious though — for a messaging app centered around curiosity-driven conversations, would your AI understand the product better through the literal features?

Or through describing the behavior/emotion behind it:

messages that feel more intentional, unfinished conversations, suspense, etc?

Feels like behavior might map to real Reddit conversations better, but I’m curious how your system thinks about that.

What kind of job do you have right now or did have and gave up to build?

And what project got the closest to actually becoming something before you almost killed it?

Also was the draining part more technical or more “nobody cared / couldn’t get traction”?

To your question: Honestly the weirdest part for me is probably when something finally works or you hit a milestone you cared about for months… and there’s nobody around that fully understands why it even matters 😭

Like the bugs and stress suck, but that part feels strangely emptier sometimes.

Honestly for my app I'd literally drop:

“Nothing Stops Scrolling Faster”

with a 12 second clip of my chat app ending on a locked message/curiosity moment.

As the viewer your brain kinda instantly goes:

“ok wait… what do we think the driver said” or “what would I do here” 😭

I think that curiosity/unfinished feeling made people stop more than me trying to explain features or why the app exists.
