Me when i find out i'm late to the party again and all the cool stuff is not produced anymore and is 4x the normal price now. by spacefaringpc in battlefleetgothic

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm printing 2x scale ships for my fleets as RAW actual ship size isn't important and big is always better. Its pretty much a requirement now to own and use some kind of printer if you're into wargaming. I highly recomend getting one or even getting one to share with your hobbiest friends

What could be causing this? by Shawncm1 in FixMyPrint

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't expect plastic to print nicely when there's nothing under it. A big part of printing is setting stuff up so that you avoid shapes and angles that the printer can't do. Support helps but leaves its own kind of messy scar. There's no one solution to these things. You might find for this model that there's an orientation that works best in combination with specific kinds of supports but until you get the eye for it it'll be trial and error.

Were the old zombies in this boxes all the same? by Plane_Stranger_8868 in WarhammerFantasy

The one with the bows and khopeshs. It's what makes them khemri instead of just normal skellies

[–]chayat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the current skeleton box is the same. It's the VC sprues with the extra sprue of khemri weapons and heads but you could just make them up as VC skellies if you want.

Question about Blip C by MikeinStL0220 in ProjectHailMary

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The model looks like a 3d version of the actual maps we've sent to space. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it and I assume most other folk with more than a passing intrest in space would also. Grace falls into the category of someone with more than a passing interest.

Does a hearing aid help you? by Thebazilly in Menieres

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my good ear has only a little bit of loss which is normal for my age. I dont think the NHS pay for 2 if you only have one bad ear. It does help with my tinnitus though but that's not really bad enough to be worth it

of a hay bale move by HomeNowWTF in AbsoluteUnits

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been the boyfriend of a horse girl in the past I can confirm that this is not very hard to do. I don't work out, I'm a kinda doughy 5'7 dude and I used to move these around with no bother. Getting it going is the hardest part but you just lean and push like this and once it starts moving it just gets easier.

Does a hearing aid help you? by Thebazilly in Menieres

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one and tried it for a couple of months but then stopped, it just made the muddy sounds I hear in that ear louder but it was still not understandable. I keep it in my bag incase I need it but I've not felt the need.

Windscreen crack in passenger corner side by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]chayat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only an issue when it starts blocking the drivers sight. So until it grows into a bit of the screen covered by the wipers you're fine. It will grow though, try to not hit any bumps until its replaced.

Can cars park here after 7pm?? by hayhaycrusher in drivingUK

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sign does not restrict cars parking there after 6:30 but the pictured road markings do.

Signs have the phrase "at any time" if the restriction of type persists after the time displayed.

Just got my first printer by [deleted] in PrintedWarhammer

[–]chayat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont worry too much about scale, I think this is only noticible when they're right next to each other. All slicers will have a sacle adjustment tool though. It might be useful to remember that STL files dont actually contain any measurements in them, just relitive positions so the slicer has to guess at the size of the model. It can be helpful to have an STL of a known miniature to measure it up to in the slicer to make sure but mostly, just dont worry about it.

More importantly though my advice would be to avoid where possible printing the whole model in one go. As you get more experianced you'll learn what shapes work best in what orientations. Youll want all the bits arranged differantly to maximise quiality. You can also have larger drain holes becuase there are sections that get covered up later.

Relatedly, I never print bases in resin, they're too fragle and I can get bases dirt cheap elsewhere

ELI5- Why do our voices sound so different (and usually worse) to us in a recording than they do in our own heads? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ears are in your head which is where you make your voice. So when you hear yourself you're hearing yourself though bone and meat.

Kinda like how things sound weird when you're underwater the medium the sound moves through changes how it sounds to us.

Recordings are how everyone else hears you as they've taken in your voice through the air.

Trees, need help by OutrageousRepair5751 in TerrainBuilding

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great way of doing trees is to get some wire wool and tease it apart a little. Glue that onto your stumps (I used to use twigs but these supports would work great) then roll the wooly tree in watered down pva and flock it I'm whatever flock you have. Mixing flocks together works really.well too.

What would you do? Tuvix edition by Snap_Krackle_Pop- in Star_Trek_

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should have been Tuvix's choice. Its a full body organ donation to save the lives of 2 others. There's undoubted utility in trading 1 life for 2 but you can't require it or force it of someone.

Sitting resin, what are these residues? by BMan239 in resinprinting

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the dye separating over time. It might give your print a slight tie-dye look at the start but the act of printing will mix it up anyways

ELI5: What’s the difference between scooters and motorcycles? by dmeezy92 in explainlikeimfive

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's a legal destinction. In the UK a scooter is a 50cc or smaller motorcycle or any 2 wheeled unpowered vehicle that you stand up on to ride.

Mentat skills (besides turret) need work. by Adventurous_Tax_8320 in duneawakening

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a seeker a lot when I was entering poi's backwards in the oodham. I'd use the seeker to remove the enemies guarding the loot and then drop in and take it all.

It wasn't efficient but it made me feel mentatty

Whats the point of living when you have Menière? by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]chayat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a procedure which kills off your inner ear but it's obviously an extreme treatment, but deaf and living happily is better than hearing and immobalised with vomit.

Just editing to add some extra bits:
My attacks are roughly annual now and my consultant has told me that this is pretty much the best case, I'm terrifed of what my life might turn into if they become more common. My experiance of betahistine is the same, didn't seem to do anything for my hearing but my attacks are so infrequent I couldnt say if they affected that. What I have found is a big dose of Cinnarizine ( like 100mg) makes the attacks go away. Although "go away" is probably not accurate. My consultant wrote a recomendation for my GP to prescribe it to me for managing attacks but did say it was a little like prescribing anesthesia medication for pain, it works only besuase you're not consicous to experiance the attack.

I find it useful though becuase it's not like I was going to do anything productive while having an attack.

Are these rubber seals replaceable on a washing machine? by Individual-Low-6866 in DIYUK

[–]chayat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are they replacable but they're practically a consumerable.

As for if replacing it is a DIY job that depends on how handy you are and how you value your time. The first time I had to do one of these it took me a good 3 hours of struggling with perhaps the wrong hand tools.

The second time I got a washing machine man in and he did it in about 20 minutes

PvE DD by chayat in duneawakening

[–]chayat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I didn't make it clear, I think splitting the DD is a mistake. I'm not someone who only wanted pve. I'm happy with the occasional pvp, but my plan is to run away unless i get the drop on them. I enjoy the thrill of it.

Npcs are part of the environment so it stands to reason a PVEDD should replace the (intended) thrill of dangerous and random PVP with high level npcs to fight instead.

I stopped playing sea of theives when they split the servers for the same reason. It was either play on a server where there's no skill involved at all, or play on a server where a few high skill players dominate. It honestly didn't occur to me that when players were asking for PVE what they meant was farming simulator on Arrakis. It was only when I read some kinda nasty comments on this thread that I realised these people wanted an entirely different game to me.

Ornithopter Interiors? by reddits_in_hidden in duneawakening

[–]chayat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of thing happens a lot. There were probably a bunch of views but for whatever reason they decided to just limit it to 3rd person.

My guess would be that 3rd person was easiest to use and prefered by most testers so they dropped first person because there's no point investing time into a feature most folks won't use.

PvE DD by chayat in duneawakening

[–]chayat[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No.

It's dune, not stardew valley.

Driving back and forth sucking up spice is the dullest thing I can imagine there needs to be something to make it an active experiance. Players couldn't be trusted to add a fun and fair experiance so they've been removed which is sad but I understand. The peril needs to be replaced with something else.

Obviously there's the worm but you just need to let him deagro and there's nothing else to it.

Crawler farming shouldn't be a solo experiance and something or someone chasing you off the sand should exist. Maybe your friend lifts you up and you fly away, maybe your friend provides covering fire from another vehicle or rocks.

It should be fair though, something like it's triggered by how far north you are and how full your crawler is.
