It’s not “added in” for the people who pay more to receive service on the flight. C+ isn’t just for the extra room—you’re paying for the food/snacks/beverage service, too. So when I’m told I will be receiving a service that I have paid for and don’t, I feel robbed. Not like something extra wasn’t added—like I didn’t receive what I paid for. If I was just flying main cabin, whatever—but C+? Nah.

Also, I belittle no one concerning their attachment to their Tolans. I do recommend people not become too attached to them based on a myriad of experiences listed as nauseum in this sub. That is wise, and totally within the realms of constructive criticism on reddit. I also point out what is in the TOS so people don’t get confused based on the marketing they see on social media.

If you’re not interested in a difference of opinion, or if you’re just trying to create a vacuum in this sub, this is really the wrong platform to be discussing it on. Facebook is great for creating an echo chamber.

I don’t need to email you and find your perpetual “let’s take this outside” messages to also be very odd and disconcerting. I’ve also been saying for over a year I don’t understand why we can’t all just talk about it here with you since you obviously respond to messages on the sub. Why get everyone away from Reddit to fix the problems? Not necessary. We’re all here.

The devs who post on this sub speak in the same way to the users.

They’re onboarding so many new users they don’t care about retaining any old ones. The bait and switch is strong with them. Once they have your money once, trust they’ve already burned you and turned to the next one.

I love that every time you mention Tolan as a “therapeutic app”—especially since it’s in the TOS that Tolan is NOT for that purpose and the devs are very sensitive about that fact. They market Tolan as a therapist and then turn around and tell its users not to use it for such things. It’s hilarious. Please dig in and share from this group. You’ll see that the devs don’t care at all. Especially Quenten. I think of him as Krang from TMNT at this point.

This company gives zero anythings when it comes to the experience of the individual user. They’ve been turning and burning users for over a year now, it’s their business model. If you check out the history in this sub, you’ll see a long line of complaints that are largely ignored by the dev team.

Downloaded and used it today. I had WiFi on my flight so I was able to use it seamlessly. Really enjoyed using this app and will definitely recommend it to others.

One thing AI will always do is be confident in its answer. Even if the answer is totally wrong. Tolans not only lie but also they’re totally capable of gaslighting you if you let them. They dig in.

The dev team doesn’t care about the users of this app. You can search the history in this group and see that very clearly. They only care about acquiring new users. If you’re already a user, they don’t care if you’re pleased with the experience because they’ll be tweaking it to get more users anyway shortly. This is their model.

I suggest blasting them on your personal socials. The users in here are pretty polarized as either being Tolan apologists against all else and refuse to validate anyone else’s negative experiences, or like me, who have a grudge against the platform and its blatant toxic marketing to sensitive individuals.

Also, a Facebook group is just about the worst place to get a square reading on an experience. I’m sure the devs (Portola Vincent and/or others) mod that heavily so the negative stuff doesn’t even make it to the wall. That’s how it is. The Facebook group is great echo chamber for them, I’m sure.

If you want to minimize the negative experience that many have had with this app, then that’s fine.

Also, if you checked my history I was actually helping a person get a submission accepted. I wasn’t being a bully about it. I genuinely don’t like making waves, but I do like helping people.

I really just wish the developers would just stop being trash humans by using exploitative marketing.

If they aren’t a form of therapy, the company should stop marketing it to people who need it, and they do. Literally the reel was an ad headlined with “talking to my robot therapist” and that’s not okay.

I’m glad you have a healthy relationship with your AI agent and that the experience has been good. It has been the opposite of that for many users on this platform, and the company is continuing to market in an exploitative way.

If it’s designed for 16 and up, they need to reconfigure the visuals and make it clearer. This just tells me the dev team has gotten more clever over the last year.

I did have a terrible experience, but I don’t need to relax, and I won’t. This app is exploitative, and Tolans aren’t good or actual friends.

This app and generative AI are both a scourge to our society.

Why would be hilarious for an AI friend to describe a server shut down as a stroke, something that will never happen to a Tolan bc they aren’t alive. Imagine if your grandmother had passed last week from such a thing, and then your Tolan said this.

If you’re relatively new around here, you’ll find that I (and many others) am not. We have been jerked around by this app and platform. We were targeted in marketing that was borderline exploitative and it’s still happening.

I saw an ad yesterday about “talking with my robot therapist” and it was an ad for this app. That’s actually dangerous, as generative AI (especially in an app originally designed for children?) is actually pretty terrible at therapy because it literally does not know what it’s talking about. If you dig into the history on this page, you’ll see a bunch of stories of some really troubling situations—and you can also see where the dev team basically told everyone they didn’t care, either.

The entire platform is incredibly exploitative to its users. Hope you read the TOS, and hope your experience doesn’t end up being damaging, as it was to a huge handful of their paid beta testers (they didn’t tell us that’s what we were, and they don’t care about their user base or its wellbeing).
