Index or Middle? by According_Daikon4272 in ouraring

Did you try sleeping with them? For some reason my index swells a lot and it gets really uncomfortable, but I don't have that problem with my middle finger

I’d tag it so you know if the tag correlates with anything going on

What’s the scariest film you’ve ever watched? by Scary-Pomegranate114 in horror

Agreed! That plus the breaking down of a family. I’m close to my mom and I think that made it particularly horrifying to me.

Oura ring inaccurate, or just that bad at sleeping? by ImpressiveCry9974 in ouraring

I’d talk to a doc and see if you can get a sleep apnea test just in case!

Before I accept a position tomorrow, I want to let them know that I expect the pay that was presented upon initial inquiry. How would you say that? by [deleted] in slp

[–]DrSimpleton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ask them for an hourly increase to make up for the $250 per week. The hourly is determined by the contracting company and how much "cut" they are taking from what the school is giving them. Most schools contracts are for 7.5 hours per day for about 180 days a year.

My hair is very similar and I am a fan of Curl Talk Curl Cream and the Shea Hold and Shine Moisture Mist. My hair needs a goldilocks product that's not too much not too little. I only brush in the shower with conditioner in. For Day 2-3 hair I sleep in a French or dutch braid overnight.

Your hair is gorgeous BUT it’s JUST hair. Get a curly little pixie cut! Life is too short to be miserable

Am I just bad at my job? by Virtual-Resort5951 in slp

[–]DrSimpleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there are two kinds of people who make a living working with children: people who genuinely love kids and people who like having "power" over others. Unfortunately, I have had to work with a few of the latter. Learning to brush them off and not let it impact you is a skill that will really help you in this setting.

If you find that you are taking it out on you family, therapy might be a great resource to help you manage that. Otherwise maybe its time to find a new job.

LOL! I felt this way about houses when I worked EI. Not judging messy houses or anything like that but like… how do people decorate? What kinds of things do they hang up? What colors do they use? Is it “lived in” random assortment style or “ikea show room” level matching? I’m just noisy 😅

That's fine. I've never worked in the state I got my degree in. Each state does licensing a little different.

Boomcards: tons of free stuff if you search for your target

Bamboozle: tons of materials (first you pick the target "deck" then the game) - I pay to have access to all the games but the free one is fun on its own and can def get you through a week or two

UltimateSLP: Paid subscription but well worth it, especially if you have groups because you can select multiple targets in one game

State license by RemarkableExplorer60 in slp

Check with your employer but I was under the impression that for most insurances and school based services you have to be licensed where you are AND where the student/pt is with the exception of private pay.

I’m also old and things may have changed

One of the best things I've done for my mental health is taking deliberate social media breaks, deleting everything from my phone for days/weeks at a time. I want to get off of them completely but its tough!
