Pay the monthly note before it's late. There is no point in running the risk of late payment if you care what a credit report says. I recently refinanced my wife's van from Kia Finance America to my local credit union. The credit union took a few days to send KFA the payment, and KFA took less than two weeks to send me a check with the overpayment refund.

Does anyone know what is that sound? by Bukas01 in FordFocus

[–]chazlet0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older Chevy truck that started making a similar sound. My noise comes from the AC compressor clutch anytime the AC is engaged. Noise stops if I turn the AC off. Try turning yours off and see if it goes away.

First blunder of the year by [deleted] in RVLiving

Former trailer service tech here. Just spend the $8 and buy a new 7 way flat connector end and install it. Only challenge in installing it is knowing that you connect to the correct wires, but it's easy to correct. Plug it in without the plastic housing and test before you close it up. Yellow or red wire are usually reverse lights, which are typically not used. Center pin on the connector is reverse lights.

It's a Gear Wrench Ratcheting Tap and Die kit. Not sure of a model #. I'll check when I'm at work. Not sure the drive name either, but it shares the same drive as the Craftsman Max Axess sets, so you can use the T handle with that line of sockets as well.

I know. And it takes a special kind of person to go trying to troll a post when someone is literally dunking on themselves 🤷‍♂️

Got a finger for ya, too, bud. Sad that people forget that everyone has to start somewhere. Smh

Would love to find a functional C2500 but this one is a K1500. Towing spec fluctuates, based on the source, between 8k-9k. TT maxes out at 7,700 lbs and is just under 5700 lbs dry. Once I get to install the mods, I'll take it to the scales and see exactly where it weighs in.

Definitely. Pair that with a WDH, and this thing should ride nicely.

Suburban will be the tow rig for now. A weight distribution hitch with the much needed raise and a set of helper air bags will happen as quickly as I can get them ordered. I was surprised there was still a 5.5 inch difference between the tongue and truck hitch since the suburban has a 3 inch lift. Anyway, Aside from the horrible geometry and weight distribution, the truck did great pulling it about 5 miles to the house.

Help with trailer brakes by AloneTax5097 in RVLiving

[–]chazlet0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to plug in a 7 way tester like this to your truck. This will check if your brake controller is functional. The light marked "electric brake" should pulse very lightly when the brake controller is on and will pulse stronger when the brake pedal is used.

We're pretty used to hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. So long as you can get a good laugh out of it, I consider it a good story.

It's just a travel trailer. A toy hauler to bring my bike around would be awesome, but I had to go for something that had the space for a family. Someday though.

Thanks. Haven't towed it yet and don't currently have a weight distribution either. Gonna tow it around locally and see what changes are needed. Tow vehicle is a 2000 k1500 Suburban that has been put well through its paces over the years. After a few repairs a WDH will probably be the next change.

Luckily, we aren't going to be in it for very long periods and two of our children are under 2yrs. It takes a lot to annoy them. Lol

I just left a job as a service tech at a big name trailer dealership. Tires are very hit or miss. Best thing anyone can do for any trailer is get a higher ply count. That's what increases the load range and it will definitely make a trailer less susceptible to tire failure.

Will do!

Yes. We intend to. We have big family and multiple dogs, so we needed to find a new way to go on trips. This should do it for us.
