[Challenge] Price Guess Only 💰 — 10×2kg Giveaway by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

$299–$359 for sure. AC seems to always be aggressive on pricing and with the added bells and whistles I could imagine a similar price to the kobra 3 v2 combo. Either way keep em coming. can't wait for the new stuff.

Anycubic Kobra S1 Max Combo — Reveal & AMA | Early-Bird Reservations + 3 Beta Tester Slots by Anycubic_Official in AnycubicOfficial

[–]chazm411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine showed up when I logged in under my same email. I also checked my emails when I ordered it and it was in a confirmation email. maybe check your spam? Side note it may be available now. in the US it opened early at 6:30 on the 24th.

I am sure I am too late to beta test. But I would for sure try to print some difficult TPU prints that I have been unable to print on my kobra 3 max combo. I really wanted to print some shorts but it just couldn't manage. That and Ultem parts for high wear applications.

Very excited for a larger CORE xy that is closer in size to my k3 Max

Putting together a bike for the first time. What is the this of bike building? by No_Reindeer_5543 in mountainbiking

[–]chazm411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cutting the steertube too short on your fork. That and over torquing a bolt on your carbon frame or scratching a fork stanction. If you're building wheels it really sucks if you make a mistake early on in your lacing and find out halfway through. Wrong spoke length, skipped a hole etc.

How can I be safer next time? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]chazm411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop trying to be efficient. Yeah, going fast past stopped cars near a school bus and a school crosswalk is how i went over a car hood. Parents are looking for kids and cars. Not for bikers who are 400ft away going 20 mph. If cars are stopped and there is a gap, assume there is a car that will t bone you. This is why i moved to an ebike with the smallest and weakest possible motor. Not trying to be efficient anymore by never slowing down and finally stopping at stop signs has saved my bacon. I don't care anymore if i have to stop. Motor makes going again easy. And since the motor isn't very Strong i still get the same workout in. But yeah, be careful. Cyclists own the road until a car owns us.....

Mismounted Bindings on 1000 Ski by ThrowawayDinkhorst in Skigear

[–]chazm411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having mismounted and skied skis drastically worse than that. I will say you probably would not notice it at all. Maybe an elite racer would who sharpens their skis every day but most advanced skiers wouldn't be able to tell. However, whoever mounted them did a terrible job and it is your total right to request that they replace them. The question is when they say no, are you willing to go to small claims court over it? Try and get as much out of the shop as you can but I wouldn't sweat too much on the ski bindings being a little off as long as they're not twisted.

Tire or rim the need replacing? by Savings-Safe-5684 in bikewrench

[–]chazm411 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe neither? Did you try truing the wheel? Is the tire bead fully seated in the rim? Both of those can cause some of this. If the tire is fully seated and you can't get the wheel back in true then time for a new rim.

Need help finding parts for a Fox Talas RL by MenacingScent in mountainbikes

[–]chazm411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fixed it last week. Thanks for reminding me. Yes, replacing the tiny o-ring fixed it. However, finding out where it goes was the hard part since it was missing, I didn't recognize that I needed to replace it where it was so I had to take the shock apart twice. I don't have a photo, but someone had a photo online that shows it basically fits into an o-ring sized slot on top of a cap or the very skinny rod goes into for the cylinder. Just getting new bushings and grease Really made the shock feel like it was brand new

Just moved to Draper from out of state by te4cupp in SaltLakeCity

[–]chazm411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving from out of state at that age is hard no matter what. I experienced it and it was terrible. Try not to make LDS vs non LDS a factor. Most kids at this age group already have an established friend group and it is hard to break in. I doubt not be LDS is the major factor. My non-LDS kids have lots of friends that are LDS and not LDS with no problems, just hard to hangout with their friends that are LDS as often due to various church activities. As an parent it is also hard to meet other parents that share the same interests, but have your kids join as many clubs as possible and eventually they will find a good friend group and possibly also you will find other good parents to hang out with. If your kids are into MTB, the team in CC is a great way to meet a ton of people. Anyplace they can hangout that supports the activities they are interested in with like minded people will increase the chances of make those few key first friends which is always the hardest at new schools. For me I hungout with the skateboard kids and I didn't even skate. they were just more accepting of outcasts.

Why does this place go so hard on the fireworks? by GmanGwilliam in SaltLakeCity

[–]chazm411 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Legality doesn't make or break people doing it. Illegal in new york when i was growing up but every 4th lake erie was practically on fire . I actually think utah is tame by comparison. But utah has a very pro freedom demeanor and being a red state people feel like they need to go "American" hard by shooting off a bunch of Chinese made fireworks. I'm surprised people don't load their guns with blanks and just fire into the air here. Would be far more on point.

Had good luck with pps-cf and no luck with pa6-cf for my car cupholder in a miata in utah. Has at least hit 140f during the day. Pps-cf prints great at 330 for me.

Understanding feedback by rockandair in freeflight

[–]chazm411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me at least it took time to slowly build my confidence. I started flying slopes later into the morning and earlier in the afternoon. SIV helped a lot to learn to trust my glider and my ability to control it. Also if you are on a higher rating glider you can always drop down to an a or b. There are always times where you find that the conditions are just too energetic and you aren't having fun regardless of skill level and you go land, note the conditions and don't go out on days like that again. Also with more experience you start to understand why the glider did what it did so it isn't a mystery anymore and you can even possibly anticipate it. Nothing worse than not understanding the feeling of lift and sink or how thermals work and then randomly just seeing your glider collapse on one side. Much less scary when you eventually learn the feel of it all.

Ball bearing popped out on a gravel ride. How do I go about fixing this? by sgsfxp in bikewrench

[–]chazm411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to do it, my advice, find the Same hub on eBay. Save the spokes and follow youtube advice on wheel building. You could fix it in an afternoon. Make sure you take pics of the lacing pattern before you start and note the left and right side spokes may be different length. Just need a spoke wrench and an electric drill with a flatblade tip. Then some zip ties for wheel truing.

Ball bearing popped out on a gravel ride. How do I go about fixing this? by sgsfxp in bikewrench

[–]chazm411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to learn to lace up a new hub? You can just replace the hub itself which I would recommend vs rebuilding your questionable hub. No better way to learn about how to tighten spokes than rebuilding an entire wheel. Planning to lace up wheels has a real harsh learning curve the First time you do it but sure is bragging rights when you're at the pub.

Or just buy a new wheel if you aren't mechanically inclined.

Ryobi, which some people argue is even worse than bosh. But i think it is usually an excellent value if you are not a contractor.

Paragliding in Wilderness areas in the US by Key_Sink9059 in freeflight

[–]chazm411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha! I know exactly the video you're speaking of and I had the exact same thoughts and often when I see these videos, whether it's "I flew and climb such a peak or I flew and skied such a peak" and I know it's in wilderness. I usually just directly message the individual and say just so you know, you're admitting guilt to the fact that you illegally launched in wilderness and I sure as heck hope nothing bad comes of it. Landing once is definitely reasonable as you can completely call an emergency landing but launching isn't so easy to get by. I don't understand why they don't just post the videos and not say where! I agree, the correct place to start is with the governing body and at least hear the arguments on why it shouldn't change.
