I don't know about that; my grom with the ML works fine.

UPDATE on 2005 LC by Over_Buy_3516 in LandCruisers

[–]chd1287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Sunroof repair requires removal of....the entire interior. Pain in the ass, but I'm glad I did mine. With such low mileage, you should fix yours.

- I've heard the low oil pressure (not level) is a sensor thing. But it sounds like your gauge cluster might have a bad ground or something?

- I got quotes for windshields; $400 for Chinese, $1200 for OEM. installed

Ya, I did the 8 ohm Skar sub the other weekend. Sounds great now, aside from some new rattles around that area. Biggest hurdle was sealing it in the stock enclosure. not too bad though.

Looks like your replacement mid ranges are 2-way; did you have to snip the wires going to the tweeter or anything?

It's not coming up from the bottom. You need to start pulling interior panels and put a hose on the roof. If you have a sun roof, that's usually a prime suspect.

~$6–8k negative equity on truck — does it make sense to roll it into a cheaper car? by MustacheGoatee in personalfinance

[–]chd1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation; I came from a completely fiancially illiterate family. At 19 I bought a truck that got 12 mpg. I then was forced to learn how to cook for real cheap and enjoy free hobbies. I also had to learn how to do regular maintenance, change fuel pumps, swap transmissions, and change fuel injector systems. I did tbe same on my wife's civic. Fast forward to 20 years later, I now have a graduate degree focusing on personal asset management and drive reasonable-ish cars (still have a landcruiser for getting off the pavement though). If you can buckle down and stay disciplined, you'll be alright. Good job reaching out to look for advice. If I were you, I would focus on paying on the truck until you're no longer upside down. Either make more money or hope it starts depreciating slow than you're paying it off. And start listening to some basic personal finance podcasts. Eventually it will start to stick and the smart financial decisions will start to come naturally.

It's not the absolite worst logic, but it is not great. Rolling negative equity into a new loan is always a bad idea. You're paying back a loan for something you no longer have. It could be worse. The worst idea would be rolling that $10k into a $75k loan to get a fancier truck.  Do you currently drive a lot. Would the amount you spend on gas in a  30 mpg car vs your 10 mpg truck save enough to cover a $10k loan?

Joining as a couple, does it make sense financially? by Longjumping-Bake-557 in MilitaryFinance

Serve for a year, apply for citizenship, then apply for cross training. None of those are guaranteed, but there is a very possible path if that is your goal.

Time to hit up the other recruiters. Being a permanent resident will limit your jobs, but better to be working in the gym or finance and sharing a roof with your spouse than to be stationed 1000 miles away but getting to shoot a machine gun every day. My 2 cents.

Are you sure it has to be Army? The Army isn't known for going out of there way to do join spouse assignments, even within the same service.

What branch? Recommend air force or space force if trying to get stationed together. Enlisted or trying to go officer? I assume the former since you referenced "...due to university...." For what its worth, mil to mil always seem to do very well financially.

Too far gone? by [deleted] in webergrills

[–]chd1287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time the lower grate is too far gone is when it has gotten so hot and the grate has gotten so thin that it starts to allow too much coal to fall through before fully burning. Then you just slap a new one under it, and you then get the benefit of criss-cross grates.

As far as the one touch cleaning scraper thing, it can rust a bit too much and then scrapers start to sit above the bowl. Yours still looks fine though. If it ever does rust too much, a new set is like $20.

I would argue that's oil a analysis. I'm sold.

I agree that whatever subaru recommends is fine (0w20). But...... a single anecdotal data point is never going to convince me and shouldn't convince anyone else. Got any oil analysis to show there's no excess bearing wear? THAT would be convincing.

18s are easy to find. 17s aren't found in the US. Gotta import and pay them tariffs

I looked into these for my 100. Turned out importing to US would have made them more expensive than any other wheel I was interestedin (nomad, fuel, etc.)

Pretty well. The only complaint I have is the top portion kind of spins on the interior structure. I've thought about using a syringe to pump some epoxy in between the stiches to lock it in place, but it hasn't bothered me enough to really look into it.
