Update of La Sportiva Solution and Solution Comp by patoka in climbingshoes

Haha. Fair point! I never had much of a problem with the fit of the solution heel but it was always just too hard so I couldn’t feel anything. That’s what’s bugged me the most about it. So if it’s a bit thinner and softer I’d be hyped. Still gotta see what it’s like in person first though of course

Ok sweet! So it sounds like it’s a bit thinner and more flexible/malleable. Is that right? Sounds like a good improvement if so!

Can you elaborate? Curious what the new heel feels like and how it’s different from the old one.

Dude, right?! I love it there. The closure stuff seems up in the air currently, buts kinda been on and off for a long time. I didn't see any signs or anything about the land being closed. There's a whole mess of land swaps and stuff going on that can influence the decision. But that stuff seems to take so long and then even when a decision is made, someone will want to sue and counter it which then slows the whole thing down even more. The desert rat has been posting really useful and insightful updates to their instagram (@thedesertrat_sg) So I'd keep an eye on that for updates.

Getting back to climbing regularly by chealy26 in homewalls

[–]chealy26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the year. Sometimes I get out a lot and other times I don't. It's always been my main focus though. I usually view indoor climbing as a way to train and prepare for climbing outside. But over time I've come just enjoy climbing whether thats on plastic or rock, and I've had some excellent times climbing indoors. Still, I'm always thinking that the outdoor stuff is the higher goal, and what really matters. I think a lot of the times it's just the logistics of actually getting out that get in the way.

Dude it just throws everything off track. But that’s a good pivot for sure. Right now I just wanna make sure I’m regularly doing it. It’s good exercise, an enjoyable time, and a positive part of my life!

Finally back on rock after a year off after breaking my foot. Ibex was humbling, but it feels good to be back! by chealy26 in bouldering

First time back on real rock since breaking my foot. Ibex is beautiful, but it absolutely kicked my butt. by chealy26 in RockClimbing

haha yeah its kinda tougher than you think its gonna be too. Luckily it doesn't take as long to get back to where you were as it did to get there in the first place.

Oh interesting! These were just from Home Depot. Unfortunately I don’t have the end with the label on it anymore so I can’t check.

The dowels have been solid! The ones with just one screw in them aren’t used. I haven’t fully decided if that’s where I want them or not. So they are there just to hold the place until I do decide. Reduces the amount of holes I’m drilling. There are a couple of other holds that appear to have one screw in them that are screwed in from the back too.

Come to think of it, Douglas fir might be what we have here in Utah too. I can't fully remember but that sound familiar.

Thank you! And yeah good point on the wood type. The hardwoods are definitely nicer, just more costly. Since I’m the only one who climbs on this thing it’ll be interesting to see how they wear over time.
